Job description

Lead Java Developer
Basic Function:
Performs technical, analytic and advisory functions in the implementation of complex integrated system projects in the field of research administration; independently prepares technical specifications for systems, interfaces and/or services; analyzes business functions of integrated systems; designs and develops end-to-end business solutions in Enterprise Java platform; resolves technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation; develops technical documentation using structural, behavioral, and/or interaction diagrams and flowcharts; independently meets with customers to determine information technology status, desires, needs, and cross-system issues on projects including integration of business functions, interface design, and database design; acts as a resource, on a consistent basis, to other team or department professional staff in the resolution of information technology problems; serves in a senior capacity within the team, providing work/task related direction and advice to other team members as needed; reports status in an accurate and timely manner; proactively seeks help, poses questions, and highlights obstacles.
Minimum Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business, or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment;
  • More than five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in complex technology projects featuring the extensive use of Java Enterprise Edition;
  • Experience in designing and developing complex business solutions using enterprise java and related technologies like JSP, Java servlets, Spring, Struts, JDBC, ORM, Web Services, SOAP, UML, XML, XSLT/XPATH, JNDI, JTA, RDBMS, PL/SQL;
  • Experience in using Enterprise Application Integration tools/methodologies;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Requires the ability to handle export controlled data; therefore the candidate must either be a U.S Citizen or must have obtained Permanent Residency.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in computer science, information systems, business, or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment;
  • Experience in Test driven development, continuous integration;
  • Development experience in any Kuali application (like Kuali Rice, Kuali Coeus, Kuali Financial Systems etc...);
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills and inter-personal skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience.
