Job description

About KPI Solutions
KPI Solutions is a leading national systems integrator specializing in end-to-end supply chain automation. We help some of the country's largest retailers, e-commerce brands, and distribution companies design, implement, and support the advanced technology that powers their warehouse and fulfillment operations. Our solutions combine cutting-edge robotics, automated storage and retrieval systems, conveyor and sortation technology, mobile robots, and intelligent software - all engineered and integrated by our team of industry experts.
With approximately 300 employees and $150 million in revenue, KPI Solutions is on an exciting growth trajectory. We are technology agnostic, meaning we partner with the best vendors in the industry to deliver the right solution for every client. At our core, we are committed to solving complex challenges, delivering measurable results, and building long-term customer success across North America.
Position Overview
Are you a validation engineer ready to take ownership of complex projects and make a real impact? KPI Solutions is seeking a Validation Engineer II to join our growing team as a primary execution owner for mid-to-advanced validation activities across our automation system implementations. In this role, you won't just follow protocols - you'll write them, lead them, and see them through to completion.
You'll work at the intersection of controls engineering, software integration, and systems qualification, collaborating across disciplines to ensure our clients' automation systems are validated to the highest standard. You'll also play a meaningful role in developing the next generation of validation talent by mentoring Validation Engineer I team members.
If you're someone who thrives on technical complexity, takes pride in quality execution, and wants to grow within a fast-moving, project-driven environment - this role is built for you.
What You'll Do
Protocol Authoring & Validation Execution
  • Author and execute Installation Qualification (IQ) and Operational Qualification (OQ) protocols, and support Performance Qualification (PQ) activities as assigned
  • Serve as the primary execution owner for complex, end-to-end validation activities across project phases
  • Execute end-to-end system OQ and PQ testing at client project sites, ensuring thorough documentation and defect resolution through completion
  • Support both static and dynamic IQ activities during installation qualification phases

Controls & Software Integration
  • Collaborate with controls and electrical engineering teams to develop the Controls Design of Operations (DOO) for automation systems
  • Lead software integration and validation of automation systems from planning through go-live
  • Develop and support end-to-end software and hardware integration test plans
  • Partner with software delivery teams to validate interfaces between Customer Systems ↔ KPI Software ↔ Hardware, ensuring seamless system connectivity and performance

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Readiness
  • Participate in planning and engineering phase deliverables including BRS and FSD reviews, bringing a validation perspective to upstream design decisions
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams - including controls, electrical, software, and project management - to ensure validation readiness at every project milestone
  • Assist with vendor integration requirements to support smooth system commissioning

Reporting & Quality Management
  • Prepare comprehensive Validation Summary Reports that clearly communicate testing outcomes, deviations, and corrective actions
  • Manage defect identification, tracking, and resolution through to completion
  • Uphold departmental quality standards and contribute to continuous improvement of validation processes and templates

Mentorship & Team Development
  • Mentor and support Validation Engineer I team members, sharing technical knowledge, best practices, and guidance on protocol execution and documentation standards
  • Help build a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous learning within the validation team

Requirements
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in validation, commissioning, or a related technical role
  • Working knowledge of automation systems, controls design, and testing practices
  • Demonstrated ability to own and execute complex validation activities independently
  • Strong technical writing skills with experience producing validation protocols, test plans, and summary reports
  • Collaborative mindset with experience working across engineering disciplines

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience executing validation for automated material handling or warehouse automation systems
  • Familiarity with control platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell Automation, or similar
  • Experience with SCADA systems, particularly Ignition by Inductive Automation
  • Exposure to Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
  • Experience validating software-hardware interfaces in integrated automation environments

Benefits
  • Medical Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • Health Care Concierge Service
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan (Pre-tax & Roth)
  • Company paid Basic Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability & Long-Term Disability
  • Voluntary Life & AD&D Insurance
  • Voluntary Accident, Critical Illness & Hospital Indemnity Insurance
  • Pet Insurance
  • Milk Stork Program
  • Wellness Program with gift card redemption and wellness challenges
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & 10 Holidays)
  • Training & Development
