They work under the supervision of senior designers to create technical drawings, specifications, and prototypes. Their responsibilities often include collaborating with production teams, making adjustments based on feedback, and ensuring that designs meet quality and functionality standards. This role is ideal for recent graduates or those with limited experience who want to develop technical design skills and gain industry knowledge.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a junior technical designer?

To thrive as a Junior Technical Designer, you need a solid understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and technical specifications, often gained through a degree in fashion design or a related field. Familiarity with CAD software, Adobe Illustrator, and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems is typically required. Attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams are crucial soft skills. These competencies ensure accurate technical packages, smooth production processes, and high-quality finished products.
