Position: Project Engineer
Location: Indianapolis, IN
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join our growing Bridge Group. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a variety of complex and high-profile transportation projects while mentoring junior staff and collaborating across disciplines. As a Project Engineer, you will perform technical design work, manage project components, and serve as a key liaison between clients and internal teams. The ideal candidate is self-driven, has a strong background in bridge design and inspection, and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with at 4+ years of related experience.
Responsibilities
• Perform conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design for structural elements of transportation and roadway projects.
• Develop and oversee bridge, retaining wall, and other structural design.
• Lead or support the preparation of construction documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Lead or support bridge condition inspections throughout Ohio, including occasional overnight stays.
• Provide technical mentorship and support to junior engineers and design technicians.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with applicable design standards and client requirements.
• Collaborate with clients, subconsultants, and internal teams on project coordination and technical issues.
• Contribute to project scoping, scheduling, and proposal development as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE required).
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of employment (or the ability attain within a year).
• Minimum of 4+ years of progressive experience in bridge design and bridge inspection.
• Knowledge of AASHTO and DOT bridge design standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to self-motivate and thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
