Position Summary

The Senior Technical Operations Consultant is responsible for driving complex warehouse process improvement initiatives by analyzing, mapping, and optimizing operations within SAP WM and EWM environments. This role leads end-to-end assessments of supply chain workflows, identifies systemic inefficiencies, and develops comprehensive, scalable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that align with industry best practices. The consultant serves as a key subject-matter resource, facilitating workshops with stakeholders across varying levels of the organization and providing expert recommendations that influence operational decisions. Working with minimal oversight, this role owns critical workstreams, ensures successful implementation of process improvements, and drives measurable performance outcomes. The position requires advanced analytical capabilities, strong client-facing skills, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams while continuously advancing operational excellence.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Leads complex end-to-end assessments of warehouse processes and workflows (SAP WM/EWM), defining scope and prioritizing improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborates with supply chain staff and management to understand specific operational challenges and requirements.
  • Identifies bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for potential improvement and creates recommendations and actionable strategies for improvement.
  • Develops comprehensive current/future-state process maps, identifies bottlenecks, and produces actionable improvement roadmaps.
  • Establish priorities for the client so they can prepare for and manage changes in their strategy and operations.
  • Designs, authors, and governs high-quality SOPs aligned to best practices; ensures SOPs are practical, achievable, and "error-proof" for operations.
  • Prepares and executes workshops with stakeholders across seniority levels; manages scope, risks, and implementation readiness.
  • Establishes and monitors performance metrics; conducts regular reviews/audits to ensure adherence and identifies further improvement opportunities.
  • Mentors junior consultants through peer review, coaching, and example (no direct supervisory accountability).
  • Works with the junior operations consultants to create training materials and guides to facilitate the implementation of new SOPs.
  • Tracks performance metrics and results to ensure success and conducts regular reviews and audits, ensuring compliance with SOPs, identifying opportunities for further improvement, and adjusting the strategy and escalating concerns as appropriate.
  • Travels to client sites up to 50% of the time to collaborate in person, evaluate operations, and review SOPs and practices in action.
  • Proposes and implements continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain operations.
  • Adheres to all certified processes as part of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and information security, which includes actively participating in quality assurance activities and ensuring the protection of sensitive information in accordance with our security policies.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by direct supervisor.

Qualifications and Motor/Sensory/Physical Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 5-7 years of relevant experience; or no degree and 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience solving complex problems and owning workstreams.
  • Demonstrated success creating and implementing SOPs to standardize and improve warehouse operations.
  • Strong SAP WM/EWM proficiency applied to operational design, mapping, and procedure standardization.
  • Advanced analysis and problem framing; ability to lead difficult conversations (scope, risks, tradeoffs).
  • High credibility in client environments; strong facilitation skills and written communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance (which requires U.S. citizenship).

Nice to Have:

  • Lean/Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt preferred) or equivalent.
  • Prior experience with government customers (DLA or DoW preferred).

Compensation: In accordance with pay transparency law, the expected salary range for this position is $150,000 – $165,000 annually. The actual compensation offered will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and location. We are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
