The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for sustaining product quality, process design, production efficiency, supplier management, driving product cost reduction and product consistency.
What you will own?
  • Provide exceptional production support on people, process, materials, and equipment in order to achieve operation principle goals (i.e. safety, quality, service, and productivity)
  • Successfully lead and contribute to NPI teams and product launches at CM sites, typically through the following activities: process capability studies, process/test design, cell layouts, time-studies, inspection protocols, supplier qualification, quality control plan, work instruction documentation
  • Work closely and cooperatively with Hardware, Software, Operations, Product, Supply Chain, Customer Solutions, and Marketing to ensure project alignment and success throughout life-cycle
  • Serve as a product owner on one or more major Markforged product families, and drive sustaining engineering activities, coordinate engineering change cut-ins, manage build state record system
  • Report manufacturing key performance metrics (KPI) to ops/eng leaders and to senior management
  • Assume role as a technical point-of-contact (POC) with contract manufacturer program team, independently troubleshooting new and existing product/process problems related to design, material, or processes
  • Trains and/or provides work direction to operators/technicians at internal or Contract Manufacturer Site
  • Mentor junior manufacturing engineers in Markforged SOPs and program execution and may lead cross functional teams
  • Drive accountability with internal and external stakeholders on project deliverables
  • Independently design and implement of robust tooling/fixture solutions to improve process control and production throughput
  • Work on dual sourcing initiatives and supplier launch initiatives
  • Perform VA/VE activities, lead Kaizen events, CAPA resolution, and create value stream maps for key processes
  • Identify and execute on DFM/A opportunities, mitigate project/products risks, and perform cost/benefit analysis

What you will have?
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (ME, MFG, or IE preferred)
  • 5 years related product-based electromechanical experience
  • Proficient in Solidworks, 3D modeling of complex assemblies, detailed engineering drawings, GD&T, and EPDM
  • Passion for manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Sharp analytical and mechanical mindset with a desire to apply them toward real-world manufacturing problems
  • Skills to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production assembly/test problems
  • Experience with production best practices such as LEAN, Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma
  • Experience with ISO Quality Management Systems (aerospace and/or medical robotics a plus)
  • Ability to independently lead cross-functional projects to completion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills - can convey complex technical topics in simple terms across internal departments and external partners
  • Not afraid to challenge the status quo and regularly offers their own ideas
  • Comfortable with issue escalation when appropriate
  • Extremely motivated and organized individual who can be self-directed in both team-based and individual settings
  • Works well in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Willingness to travel 10-25% both domestically and internationally

Salary Range
The salary range for this role is expected to be between $86,550.00 - $144,250.00. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed and the applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other components may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
