Job description

Milton Manufacturing is seeking a skilled, hands-on Engineering Technician to support our product development efforts. This role plays an essential part in ensuring that projects & prototypes are completed correctly and on time in an efficient and safe manner. ย The ideal candidate is technically knowledgeable, detail-driven, and comfortable working in both a shop and office environment.

Position Summary - Engineering Technician

The Engineering Technician assists in developing, testing, troubleshooting, and improving processes and products. This position works closely with external customers, suppliers and Milton manufacturing, engineering and quality departments to support the productโ€™s technical requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities - Engineering Technician ย 

  • Assist engineers with project execution, including technical documentation, drawings, and change requests.
  • Assemble components, fixtures, and prototypes based on engineering specifications and technical documentation
  • Conduct tests, collect data, and prepare reports to support engineering and quality initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot product systems to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Support the implementation of new equipment, or technologyโ€”including setup, calibration, and validation.
  • Maintain accurate test results, measurements, design changes, and project updates.
  • Assist with updating work instructions, CAD files, and process documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.

Required Skills and Abilities - Engineering Technician

  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Proficient in using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills and Abilities - Engineering Technician

  • Ability to understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical or process issues effectively.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) preferred.
  • Ability to fabricate & modify components and prototypes to address customer feedback and issues identified in testing and validation
  • PLC & instrumentation understanding and experience.

Education and Experience - Engineering Technician

  • Associate degree or bachelorโ€™s in engineering technology, Mechanical,ย  Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred;
    Equivalent technical experience will be considered.
  • 3โ€“5 years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering support, or technical role required.
  • Experience working in metal fabrication, welding, machining, or stamping environments is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, or work on the production floor for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, machinery, and varying temperatures
