Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician (MET) acts as the bridge between the Manufacturing engineers who design a process and the production floor where the product is actually made. While the engineers focus on high-level concept and capital, technicians are the "hands-on" specialists who ensure the processes work, and the final products meet quality standards.


Principal Duties:

  • Troubleshooting & Repair: When a machine on the assembly line fails or starts producing defective parts, the technician is the first responder. They diagnose mechanical, electrical, or software issues (such as PLC programming errors).
  • Process Optimization: They look for "bottlenecks" in production. If a certain step is taking too long or creating too much waste, they collect and analyze data alongside the engineers to enable a redesign the workstation layout or suggest a different tool to speed things up.
  • Quality Control: They conduct tests and measurements on finished goods to ensure they match the original engineering blueprints.
  • Utilization of LEAN tools to compile data such as time studies, work instructions, etcโ€ฆ
  • Project Management: Manage small capital spend projects under the direction of manufacturing engineers to enable facility and process improvements.
  • Safety: Champion a safety first mindset and lead by example.


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of process improvement techniques and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ANSI, ISO, or ASME is a plus.
  • Proficiency in CAD software
