Job description

Living Room
A home away from home where creatives celebrate music, art, design and culture. We are a private membership club open to members and their guests only.
The Role
At Living Room Studios, the Junior Assistant is a high-stakes, hybrid role that serves as the foundation of our reputation for excellence. Positioned above the Runner role, this is the primary stepping stone toward Assistant Engineering. While a Runner provides general help, an LR Junior Assistant is a professional who operates the facility through technical literacy, precision facility management, and high-touch hospitality.
You are expected to have a working understanding of the studio's technical ecosystem, providing a layer of support that a standard Runner cannot.
Technical & Facility Stewardship
  • Ensure all rooms are technically prepared to the LR standard. You must possess a deep knowledge of patch bay routing, DAW listener setups, and signal flow.
  • Oversee the care and setup of world-class instruments, including our Fazioli piano and vintage synthesizer collection.
  • When a session demands it, you must be capable of stepping in to support the Assistant Engineer or Lead Engineer with technical tasks.

Professionalism & Discretion
  • Navigate the building with total discretion, adhering to strict "member-only" protocols and maintaining client privacy at all times.
  • Anticipate the needs of the Engineer and Client alike. You are the link that ensures the creative team never has to break focus.

Operational Contingency (The Hybrid Mandate) While the Junior Assistant role is focused on technical and facility oversight, we operate as a lean, elite team.
  • The Junior Assistant is the primary backup for all studio operations.
  • On shifts where a dedicated Runner is not present, the Junior Assistant assumes all Runner responsibilities (errands, craft service, and logistics) to ensure the facility continues to function at the highest level.
Who You Are
  • You are experienced in Pro Tools and analog signal flow, looking to move into Engineering and understanding that this role is the gateway to that path.
  • You see the "big picture" of a session-knowing when a patch needs changing and when a client needs a fresh carafe of water.
  • You are a skilled technician who understands that no task is beneath any member of the team. If a Runner is not on shift, you take pride in executing those tasks with five-star precision.

Requirements
  • Technical: Advanced proficiency in DAW environments and analog routing.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a recording studio environment is required; background in premium hospitality or high-end service is a significant plus.
  • Logistics: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Availability: This is a part-time role requiring flexibility for evenings, weekends, and late-night sessions.

Benefits
Why Join
  • 100% Healthcare Coverage - choose from United Healthcare PPO and HMO plans or Kaiser for medical. Dental and vision coverage are also included through United Healthcare, it's part of our commitment to you
  • Wellness Benefits for a balanced lifestyle
  • Competitive 401k match for your financial future
  • Career Growth opportunities that empower you
  • Leader in Development Program
  • Learning & Development for your growth with us
  • Immersive Trainings that nurture your talents
  • Fun and Exciting Team Member Events that build bonds
  • Free Team Member Meals to fuel your creativity

Our Team Culture
At Living Room, we are deeply passionate about our work and we believe that hospitality is a noble pursuit because it's fundamentally human and an ideal worth chasing. We seek out those that share these beliefs as an inherent second nature and our team member culture is how we bring this idea to life.
