Job description

This position is classified as non-exempt in accordance with applicable federal and state wage and hour laws. As the Junior Accountant you are responsible for supporting daily accounting and financial operations through accurate processing, reconciliation, reporting, and financial record maintenance. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial data, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring efficient management of accounts payable and general accounting functions.

Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: Your Accountabilities in the Role

The following duties are considered essential functions of the Junior Accountant position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

A. Achieving Accounting Excellence to Meet Financial Goals (100%)

  1. Process accounts payable transactions accurately and timely, including invoice review, coding, entry, and payment processing.
  2. Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records.
  3. Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial information.
  4. Process invoices and reconcile payments to supporting documentation and vendor statements.
  5. Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
  6. Maintain accurate financial records, reports, and supporting documentation.
  7. Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation as requested.
  8. Prepare routine financial reports and assist with financial analysis.
  9. Enter, review, and verify financial data to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  10. Communicate professionally with vendors and internal departments regarding accounting matters.
  11. Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 1- 2 years of experience

Functional Skills: Advanced Excel and computer skills, knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, time management and multitasking capabilities, attention to detail and accuracy, strong organizational and communication skills, dependability and professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions:
