Position Summary

This role is responsible for preparing accurate and timely quotations for sheet metal fabrication projects by reviewing customer drawings, specifications, and requirements. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, material selection, and production routing to develop competitive and profitable quotes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviewing customer drawings, prints, specifications, and RFQs.
  • Develop accurate manufacturing cost estimates for fabricated sheet metal components and assemblies.
  • Calculate material, labor, machine, and outside processing costs.
  • Estimate process time for fabrication operations including, but not limited to: laser cutting, punching, forming, welding, machining, hardware insertion, finishing and powder coating, and assembly.
  • Determine appropriate manufacturing processes and routing.
  • Work closely with Sales Engineers, Production, and Sales Engineering Manager to clarify quote requirements. Position to report to ERP Manager.
  • Identify potential manufacturing efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure quotes are completed by JR Metal Works standards and within customer deadlines.
  • Communicate professionally with internal teams regarding quote status and technical questions.
  • Continuously improve estimating accuracy through feedback from completed jobs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication estimating, quoting, manufacturing engineering, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Understanding of manufacturing process times and labor standards.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software.
