Job description

Overview:

The Systems Administrator / IT Operations Specialist will support the day-to-day operations, maintenance, monitoring, and administration of a secure, compliance-focused CMMC Level 2 environment used to host and support customer-facing development, collaboration, and IT services.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience administering both Windows and Linux systems, understands secure IT operations, and is comfortable supporting enterprise services such as virtualization, backups, monitoring, DevSecOps tools, and collaboration platforms.


This position requires a strong technical foundation, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a controlled environment where security, availability, CMMC Level 2 documentation, and process discipline are critical.

Travel: Negligible Clearance:

An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Requirements:

• Active CompTIA Security+ certification at a minimum
• Experience administering Windows Server environments
• Experience administering Linux-based systems
• Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and user/account administration
• Experience supporting virtualized server environments
• Ability to troubleshoot server, network, application, and service availability issues
• Understanding of basic cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, patching, logging, access control, and secure configuration management
• Ability to follow documented procedures and maintain accurate technical documentation in support of operational, security, and CMMC Level 2 compliance requirements
• Strong communication skills and ability to support internal users, technical teams, and project stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and escalate issues appropriately

Responsibilities:
  • Administer and support Windows and Linux servers within the secure environment
  • Monitor system availability, performance, disk usage, services, backups, and alerts
  • Respond to service interruptions, system alerts, and user-reported issues
  • Support secure account creation, password resets, account status changes, and access control processes
  • Maintain and troubleshoot hosted services such as GitLab, JIRA, Moodle, file storage, monitoring, and backup systems
  • Support patching, updates, vulnerability remediation, and configuration changes
  • Assist with backup operations, restore testing, and data protection activities
  • Review logs, monitor system health, and support incident response activities as needed
  • Maintain documentation for systems, procedures, configurations, changes, and operational workflows in support of CMMC Level 2 controls and audit readiness
  • Support automation efforts using PowerShell, scripting, and administrative tools
  • Assist with onboarding new services, customers, and hosted capabilities into the environment
  • Follow change control, configuration management, and security procedures
Preferred Skills and Experience:

•Four-year degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science,Information Systems, or related technical field
•Experience supporting secure or compliance-driven environments, such as CMMC,DoD, or controlled infrastructure environments
•Experience with GitLab administration and GitLab Runner support
•Experience with Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Confluence
•Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication
•Experience with WhatsUp Gold or similar monitoring platforms
•Experience supporting Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Automate, or relatedcollaboration tools
•Experience with NGINX reverse proxy, certificates, and Linux-hosted webapplications
•Experience with pfSense, VPN, or secure remote access solutions
•Experience with backup validation, log review, patch management, and vulnerabilityremediation
•Experience supporting tools such as Moodle, SonarQube, Artifactory, Netmaker, orsimilar hosted services

,Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.

The projected annual compensation range for this position is $65,000 - $90,000(USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
