Qualifications and Competencies
  • Position requires AA Degree equivalency plus 3 years minimum experience in IT and data management related functions. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, dependent and responsive with attention to details and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, excellent interpersonal skills with positive attitude and maximum discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Customer service oriented with a get it done attitude.
  •  Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Networking Solutions across multiple sites and the use of routers and firewalls.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite ® and possess exceptional analytical and data entry skills.

Position Summary

The Information Technology Specialist is Gang Alternative’s subject matter and technical expert to serve as our in-house IT expert in a long-term position. The successful candidate will serve two functions within the agency as part of the Operations Department. He or she must coordinate between the company and external vendors and contractors about all IT-related infrastructure and development; and second, the IT Specialist will assist the Data Coordinator and Data Team GA’s data management system. This position is for a responsive and productive professional who can work with several IT projects and GA assigned external contractor to ensure continued success for the growing GA programs. This person works closely with program staff to keep an open line of communication on all IT related services provided to participants and ensures the coordination of all program-related orientation and events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring all client information across all agency programs for data collection and reporting purposes in agency’s CMS, Apricot.
• Secondary responsibility in conjunction with Data Coordinator to ensure that all participants’ information is correctly entered into the agency internal database Apricot and funder’s, SAMIS database and other reporting systems.
• Collaborate with Data Coordinator and Program Managers to ensure the integrity of the client’s data and system is maintained and that all funder required documents are collected and included in the participants’ electronic files.
• Provide technical assistance and training to staff in entering participants’ case notes information in program and other funder databases when needed.
• Be responsible for all of GA’s IT equipment across all sites and ensure accountability of such, managing inventory and reporting on these monthly to DOO.
• Assess GA IT infrastructure and capability on a regular basis to ensure it continues to meet necessary demands and report on these monthly.
• Manage all technical aspects of the GA SharePoint Financial Management System in conjunction with GA IT contractor.
• Work collaboratively with GA’s IT contractor to manage daily operations of the entire IT department.
• Responsible for GA equipment and assets such a laptops, phones, wireless hardware etc, including maintaining comprehensive assets registry and inventory across all business areas.
• Responsible for recommending and oversee the ordering all IT equipment in conjunction with GA IT contractor.
• Develop new strategies and IT procedures to increase efficiency, enhance workflow and improve user satisfaction.
• Provide immediate technical assistance to on-site and remote employees.
• Work closely with GA’s IT contractor to protect GA and customer data from outside infiltration through encryption, secure data storage and other necessary means.
• Assist with the installation of new hardware and software and help train employees on its use.
• Offer suggestions for possible upgrades and changes within the agency so it remains current and relevant to ever changing global and local IT requirements.
• Assist with answering phones, filing, photocopying, faxing, and any other duties as assigned.
