Big Bend Hospice is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Inpatient Unit (IPU) team. This full-time day shift position is based primarily at Big Bend Hospice's dedicated Inpatient Unit at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital—the beautiful First Commerce Center for Compassionate Care.

About the Role

As an Inpatient Unit Registered Nurse, you'll provide expert hospice nursing care to patients requiring short-term inpatient symptom management and end-of-life care. Working alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, social workers, chaplains, hospice aides, and volunteers, you'll deliver compassionate, individualized care in a peaceful, state-of-the-art hospice environment.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing patient evaluations
  • Managing pain and complex symptoms using evidence-based hospice practices
  • Administering medications, treatments, and comfort-focused interventions
  • Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized plans of care
  • Educating and supporting patients and families throughout the hospice journey
  • Documenting patient care accurately in the electronic medical record
  • Responding to changes in patient condition with clinical expertise and compassion
  • Promoting dignity, comfort, and quality of life for every patient
Qualifications

Required

  • Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) License (or Compact License)
  • Minimum of one year of acute care nursing experience
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care

Preferred

  • Hospice or Palliative Care experience
  • Oncology, ICU, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical experience
  • CHPN Certification
  • BSN
