Job Title:ย Remoteย Clinicalย Counselorย Floaterย 
**ย This positionย is primarily remote, butย requires flexibility to support clients across time zones, including the ability to respond to surge assignments or travel needs that may arise with limited notice.ย Support mayย beย requiredย inย person, on shore, or in an afloat deployedย environment.**ย

Theย Remoteย Clinical Counselorย Floaterย works as aย full-timeย employee of Zeiders Enterprises andย provides assessment and short-term, solutionย focused non-medicalย counseling services to eligible individuals, marital or intimate partners, families, and/or groupsย as part of the CNIC Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP) Global Staffing Contract.ย ย The Remote Clinical Counselorย Floaterย will also carry SAIL case management responsibilities. SAIL is the Navyโ€™s Sailor Assistance and Intercept for Life (SAIL) program, designed to allow for command support and involvement throughout a Sailorโ€™s recovery following a suicide-related incident toย optimizeย successful reintegration and to ensure missionย readiness.ย ย SAIL provides rapid-assistance clinical case management services addressing risk management, care coordination and reintegrationย assistanceย for Sailorsย identifiedย during the period of highest risk after an event involving suicidal thoughts or behaviors.ย Theย Remoteย Clinicalย Counselorย Floaterย will provide services remotely through telephone or Navy approvedย virtual platforms,ย and may also provide surge supportย in-person,ย on the shore,ย or in an afloat deployed environment Navy-wide.ย 

This position isย primarily remote butย requires flexibility toย potentiallyย serve clients in any time zone.ย ย 

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesย 

  • Non-medical counseling:ย 
    • The scopeย of practiceย for non-medical counselingย is limited to counseling services forย otherย conditionsย thatย mayย be aย focus ofย clinicalย attention andย adjustmentย disorders.ย 
    • Conduct intake, screening, assessment, and referral of clients asย appropriate.ย ย 
    • Provide individualย andย couples, andย groupย counseling.ย ย 
    • Performย accurateย assessment of the clientโ€™s presenting problem and plan effective treatment for that problem.ย 
    • Provide information about existing Navy programs such asย in-personย NMC Counseling Servicesย atย installations.ย ย 
    • Provide immediate intervention and risk assessment IAW best practices in the mental health community and educateย 
    • Ensure adequate referral and follow-up of any case presenting suicidal or homicidalย risk.ย 
    • Participate in regional quarterly quality assurance procedures to ensure that all clinical services provided are safe and ofย goodย quality.ย 
    • Maintain counseling case documentationย in the FFSMIS Clinical Counseling Record Systemย for all non-medical counseling assessment and counseling servicesย IAW all applicable policies,ย laws,ย andย instructions.ย 
    • Provide a warm handoff to the Family Advocacy Representative or FAP Victim Advocate for clients wanting to make a restricted domestic abuse report.ย 
    • Provide a warm handoff to the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator or SAPR Victim Advocate for clients wanting to make a restricted sexual assault report.ย 
    • Intervene in crisis situations, using sound professional judgment, ethical practice, and common sense.ย 
    • Provide temporary surge support (telephonically and through Navy authorized virtual platforms) acrossย additionalย Navy Regions on an as-needed basis when there is an increased number of cases within a region.ย 
    • Other duties as assigned.ย 
  • SAIL case management:ย 
    • Receive Command and non-Commandย referrals andย make an introductory contactย to referred Sailors to provide information about theย SAIL program.ย 
    • Provideย an initialย clinicalย assessment and ongoing risk assessments usingย the Columbia Suicide Severity Risk Scale (C-SSRS).ย ย Provide ongoing safetyย planning using the Veterans Affairs Safetyย Plan.ย 
    • Collaborate closely with Sailorโ€™s Command providing routine updates regardingย sailorย risk,ย safety, and progress inย their recoveryย in accordance withย theย DoDI 6490.08.ย 
    • Provide clinical case management to Sailors enrolled in SAILย perย published protocols and procedures. Ensure enrolled Sailors are connected to behavioral health providers and other supportive resources, asย indicated, throughout SAIL engagement.ย ย 
    • Ability to intervene in crisis situations, using sound professional judgment, ethicalย practice,ย and common sense.ย ย Maintain SAIL case documentation IAW all applicable policies,ย laws,ย and instructions.ย 
    • Other duties as assigned.ย 

Required Qualificationsย ย 

  • Masterโ€™s degree in counseling accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs; a masterโ€™s degree in social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, a masterโ€™s degree in marriage and family therapy accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Marriage and Family Therapy Education, or a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology and a one-year clinical internship accredited by the American Psychological Association.ย 
  • Current, valid and unrestricted clinical license or certification from a state or U.S. territory authorizing independent clinical practice in the fields of professional counseling, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy or clinical/counseling psychology- LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), LCP (Licensed Clinical Psychologist/ Licensed PhD in Psychology), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LCPC (Licensed Certified Professional Counselor), LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor)ย ย 
  • Eachย Remote Clinicalย Counselorย Floaterย mustย maintainย current clinical credentials and privileges throughout their FFSPย assignment.ย 
  • A minimum of two years- of full-time, post-masterโ€™s supervised clinicalย experience.ย 
  • Remote Clinicalย Counselorย Floatersย must meet or exceed the requirements for Tier II clinical practitioners.ย ย ย 
  • Remoteย Clinicalย Counselorย Floatersย must meet the standards of professional and ethical conduct prescribed by theirย particular disciplineย or licensing board andย demonstrateย current clinical competence through at least periodic,ย direct-serviceย clinical experience during the 2 years preceding hire.ย 
  • 2+ years providing case management to clinical clients.ย ย 
  • 1+ year experience providing clinical services on a telehealth platform.ย 
  • Minimum ofย 6 monthsโ€™ย experience with assessing clients for suicidality,ย managing crises withย suicidal clients and implementing safety plans.ย 
  • Knowledge of standard documentation requirements for clinicalย servicesย 
  • Ability toย locateย resources and provide warm handoffs.ย ย 
  • Broad knowledge of clinical and non-clinical support services for clients to make referrals toย appropriate agenciesย or organizations.ย 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks andย possessย strong time management skills; ability to handle a caseload of 25-30 and complete all notes in 48 hours.ย 
  • Ability to work and thrive in a high-stress, fast-pacedย environment.ย 
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.ย 
  • Proficiencyย in oral and written communication skills, to include case management and clinical documentation.ย 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software andย skilledย in the use of office software.ย 
  • Must be physicallyย locatedย within a reasonable commuting distance ofย aย militaryย installation.ย 
  • Must have a dedicated professionalย workspace thatย that provides a secure, private environment suitable for telehealth clinical services and is free of distractions or personal commitments during theย workday.ย ย ย ย 
  • Must be flexibleย to support clients across time zones, including the ability to respond to surge assignments or travel needs that may arise with limited notice. Support may beย requiredย in person, on shore, or in an afloat deployed environment.ย 

Preferred Qualificationsย 

  • Live local to the area of responsibility.ย ย 
  • Knowledge of the difficulties of adjusting to general life stresses as well as those resulting from the requirements of military lifeย 
  • Experience providing short-term counselingย to those within the military communityย 
  • Knowledge of available military and community referral resourcesย 
  • Ability to effectively communicate directly with Command Leadership (Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, Command Master Chief)ย
