Summary:
We seek a Software Engineer with Unity 3D experience to join our growing Performance Solutions team at.
Our team's mission is to leverage emerging technologies to help accomplish Intuitive's mission of advancing minimally invasive care.
Our primary customeris Intuitive's Commercial organization, with quarterly deliverables of updates to our visualization, training, and demonstration tools.
As a member of our team you will work on the development of virtual reality, mixed reality, and traditional applications using the latest XR technologies to model surgical robotic hardware.
As a Software Engineer, you will support our team of senior developers and independently build features from clearly scoped, step-by-step direction.
You will be joining a mature codebase, and a core part of the job is reading and understanding existing code well enough to extend it without breaking it.
The successful candidate must excel in an agile, focused, small-team environment and commit to high-quality deliverables on a quarterly basis.
A strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward is required.  
 
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support senior developers in the completion of their tasks.
Scope and estimate your own work accurately, and flag slippage early when estimates change.
Independently build features from clearly scoped, step-by-step direction.
Collaborate with cross-functional team of developers, designers, and QA.
Create good documentation for features and techniques that were tried and rejected or implemented.
Ability to transfer knowledge to and from team-mates.
Architect software in a modular fashion to support scalable, reusable features.
Build, debug, and deploy next generation XR and traditional apps for Windows and Android in the Unity game engine using C#.
Apply good software engineering practices to write elegant, maintainable, reusable code.
Minimum Requirements
BS in computer science or related fields.
MS or higher a plus. 3+ years of real-world experience developing and shipping Unity-based applications or video games.
Proven track record of onboarding onto a mature codebase and shipping meaningful contributions.
Experience developing for XR technologies and devices like the Meta Quest, HoloLens, Apple Vision Pro.
Strong knowledge and understanding of C#, OO programming patterns, and software architecture.
Ability to self-test, debug and verify own work before handing off to QA.
Strong knowledge of using Git for source control, branching, and PRs.
Great communication skills and ability to excel in a collaborative team environment.
Bonus Characteristics
Ability to create UI/UX assets in Unity.
Experience writing graphics shaders in Unity.
Experience programming in other languages like Python, C++.
Experience developing Android applications in Java or Kotlin and using ADB.
Experience in creating and using animated 3D models.
Experience with other game engines/tools that may be used in the pipeline such as Blender, Figma, Photoshop, Substance Painter, ZBrush, and Maya.
Familiarity or experience developing for other game engines like Unreal, Godot, Lumberyard, Source.
