Job Description:
The Curriculum & Academics Specialist is dedicated to:
Supporting the Curriculum & Academics Team, specifically K-12 students and teachers in all divisions and on all programs, with an emphasis on individual summer programs. This position includes curriculum development, online instruction and grading, registrar clerical responsibilities, creation of field materials and training, and travel and participation in WorldStrides events.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Minimum Master of Education or Master of Teaching
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science
  • Current teaching licensure
  • 6-12th grade classroom teaching experience
  • Online instruction experience within an LMS, Schoology preferred
  • Curriculum development experience, including writing, reviewing, and strategic planning
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and mission-centered decision-making
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to respond to internal and external client requests in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to analyze and solve problems at both a strategic and functional level
  • Comfort working in a virtual environment and an ability to remain focused and self-motivated
  • Flexibility between collaborative teamwork and independent self-pacing
  • Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal; attentive proofing and editing skills
  • Acute attention to detail, organization, documentation, effective time management, and prompt follow-up
  • Experience with Microsoft suite, Google apps, and online creative design tools

Essential Functions:
  • Regular curriculum and educational resource development, writing, and revision for students and educators
  • Creation and revision of educational materials for internal teammates and external customers
  • Daily grading of online student coursework, which includes some weekend/holiday hours
  • Present at and participate in field trainings for internal educators
  • Present at and participate in professional development events for external educators
  • Potential for domestic and international travel, up to 50 days per year
  • Ongoing maintenance of the learning management system
  • Development and maintenance of academic coursework materials, including standards alignments, syllabi, and course snapshot resources
  • Participation in regular instructor reliability meetings
  • Weekly processing of teacher professional development certificates with state-specific requirements
  • Weekly processing of student academic transcripts and certificates of completion
  • Collaboration across departments and divisions regarding online course enrollment, sales support, and program updates
  • Communication by email, video conferencing, and phone with internal teammates and external customers
  • Assist in project management for the K-12 Individual division
  • Creation of content for WorldStrides' customer-facing sites
  • Planning for and participation in regular accreditation reviews
  • Attendance and contribution to regular team meetings
  • Attendance and contribution to regular one-to-one meetings
  • Attendance and contribution at internal trainings and events
  • Participation in special projects as needed and completion of additional responsibilities as assigned
