What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intern, you need a basic understanding of the relevant field, strong academic background, and a willingness to learn. Familiarity with common productivity tools like Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, and sometimes industry-specific software, is often expected. Initiative, adaptability, and effective communication are valuable soft skills that help interns stand out. These abilities enable interns to contribute meaningfully, quickly adapt to workplace expectations, and maximize their learning during the internship.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to work on during an Internship Mini, and how will they contribute to my professional development?

During an Internship Mini, you can expect to be assigned to short-term, focused projects that align with your field of study or career interests. These tasks often include conducting research, assisting with data analysis, supporting team projects, or contributing to ongoing company initiatives. The structure is designed to provide hands-on experience and practical skills while giving you exposure to real workplace challenges. You'll also have opportunities to collaborate with professionals, receive feedback, and build valuable connections that can support your future career growth.

These internships often focus on specific projects or tasks, giving participants the opportunity to develop skills, build their resumes, and explore career interests within a limited timeframe. Mini internships can be ideal for those who have limited availability, such as during school breaks or between academic terms, and may sometimes be remote or part-time.

Job description

About OpenEye:

OpenEye, the cloud video platform company, provides solutions for video security, business intelligence and loss prevention. For over 20 years, OpenEye has been committed to developing an easy-to-use, comprehensive video management system backed by Heroic Customer Service and support.  Our on-site and cloud-based products can be found protecting schools, hospitals, banks, retail stores, and other facilities around the world. OpenEye's solutions are available globally through a trusted network of certified service providers.

OpenEye is headquartered in Liberty Lake, WA and is a subsidiary of Alarm.com. Learn more at www.openeye.net.

The Position:

We are seeking a Content Marketing Intern to join our marketing team for a 10-12 week internship. In this role, you'll support the execution of OpenEye's content strategy across web, email, social media, and advertising channels while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced marketing environment. Our Content Marketing Intern will work onsite out of our Liberty Lake, WA headquarters.

This internship is designed as a focused, learning-forward experience. You'll contribute to active marketing initiatives, build foundational content marketing skills, and collaborate closely with experienced marketers. You'll also be introduced to how AI tools are used to support content creation and optimization, with a small AI-focused learning project scoped to the duration of the internship and aligned with your day-to-day work.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist with scheduling and publishing social media content, ensuring posts are on-brand and aligned with the editorial calendar.
  • Support writing, editing, and publishing content for blogs, website pages, email, and campaign assets using WordPress.
  • Apply basic SEO and AEO best practices to content with guidance from the team.
  • Collaborate with copywriters, designers, and marketing partners to support ongoing campaigns and initiatives.
  • Track tasks and deadlines using Jira or other project management tools to stay organized and on schedule.
  • Assist with light graphic design needs using pre-built templates and sourced imagery.
  • Review basic performance metrics and industry trends to support content improvements and learning.
  • Explore AI tools that support content research, drafting, and optimization as part of daily workflows.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the internship, you'll gain hands on experience:

  • Executing content across social, web, email, and campaign channels.
  • Publishing and updating content in WordPress using SEO and AEO best practices.
  • Strengthening copywriting, editing, and quality control skills.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional partners and using project management tools.
  • Applying analytics and AI tools to support content optimization and efficiency.

AI Learning & MiniProject:

AI learning is integrated into this internship through hands-on exposure and a small, scoped project. Early in the internship, you'll work with your manager to define an AI-focused mini-project aligned with your responsibilities-such as assisting with AI-supported content drafting, optimization, or workflow documentation.

The goal is to provide practical experience with modern marketing tools while keeping the scope achievable within a 10-12 week timeframe.

You Are:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Interested in content marketing, social media, and digital storytelling.
  • Comfortable with basic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva).
  • Familiar with or eager to learn WordPress and content publishing workflows.
  • A strong communicator with attention to detail and a desire to learn.
  • Organized, dependable, and open to feedback in a collaborative environment.

Please note that sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization, or any other immigration-related support, is not available for this position at this time.

The Perks!

  • The pay for this position is in the range of $20.00 - $22.00 per hour.
  • Collaborative, fun, creative culture where idea sharing is encouraged
  • Casual dress (Jeans are welcome!)
  • Paid Sick/Wellness time is accrued at a rate of 1 hour for every 35 hours worked, except where local laws are more generous
