Job description

Job Summary-
This is an onsite role located in Anniston, Alabama.
The GDOTS DoD Skillbridge Internship program is open to all ranks, enlisted or officer, may apply. Participants are not eligible for compensation from the company, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members. A GDOTS DoD Skillbridge Internship, whether entry or mid-level, is an opportunity for individuals to gain valuable civilian experience through specific industry training during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. Participation in GDOTS DoD Skillbridge Internship Program is voluntary, Service member-initiated, and must be authorized by the individual's chain of command prior to the start of the internship. Successful completion of all necessary company agreements and documentation will also be required.
This program is being afforded to active-duty Military Members of all supporting branches. You will job-shadow and learn from experienced leaders and other smart, motivated people. This program will help you develop best in class skills on mission critical work.
Responsibilities-
โ€ข Partner with GD-OTS Supply Chain Management in the support of programs and direct material requirements
โ€ข Skills learned will be measured by presenting special project findings to GD-OTS senior leaders
โ€ข Demonstrate a broad knowledge and understanding of supply chain management processes and systems
โ€ข Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to participate in IPTs with a diverse group of Subject Matter Experts
โ€ข Cross functional training with Large Caliber and Supply Chain Performance teams
โ€ข Analyzes the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed.
โ€ข Fosters and maintains excellent relationships with vendors and internal customer representatives
โ€ข Comply with GD-OTS corporate, business unit policies and procedures as well as applicable government regulations and laws
โ€ข Act as material expediter to assist the SCM team with validating delivery date accuracy and opportunities to improve schedule
โ€ข Work with a broad spectrum of highly skilled and specialized professionals to understand the current state of supply chain within the GD-OTS lines of business and aid in developing milestones to meet business objectives
โ€ข Build an understanding of the DoD supply chain vision and expected requirements to meet aggressive order needs for a new/start up programs and awards
โ€ข Learn the various systems and processes available to support growth in Supply Chain to meet contract obligations and GD-OTS standards
โ€ข Prepares program reports for management or others
โ€ข Learn relevant GD-OTS business practices and build understanding of private industry priorities for business operations
Qualifications-
DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:
  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.
  • Meets DoD SkillBridge Qualifications as per DODI 1322.29.

Candidates for this position should posess an associates degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Pay Range (USD)
This is an unpaid internship through the Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge Program. The individual selected for this role will not receive compensation or benefits from GD-OTS and will not be an employee, agent or contractor of GD-OTS but rather will remain an employee of the DoD and will receive compensation and benefits through the DoD.
