Job Description
Position Summary
The Director of Athletic Performance for Women's Basketball is responsible for leading all aspects of strength and conditioning, athletic performance enhancement, and sports science initiatives for the University of Missouri Women's Basketball program. Reporting directly to the Head Coach, this position designs and implements comprehensive training programs that optimize student-athlete performance, reduce injury risk, and support long-term athletic development. The Director collaborates closely with coaching, sports medicine, nutrition, and athletic department personnel while ensuring compliance with NCAA, SEC, and University regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Athletic Performance Program Development and Implementation (50%)
• Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive year-round strength and conditioning programs for Women's Basketball student-athletes.
• Develop sport-specific training plans focused on strength, power, speed, agility, conditioning, and injury prevention.
• Create and monitor individualized performance programs based on athlete needs, performance goals, and return-to-play considerations.
• Collaborate with coaching staff to align athletic performance initiatives with team objectives and competitive demands.
• Evaluate and modify training programs based on athlete progress, performance data, and current best practices.
2. Student-Athlete Training and Development (20%)
• Conduct and supervise daily strength and conditioning sessions.
• Instruct student-athletes in proper weightlifting, movement, plyometric, and conditioning techniques.
• Teach and reinforce safe training practices and proper exercise execution.
• Provide education and guidance related to recovery strategies, nutrition principles, and overall athletic development.
• Foster a culture of accountability, discipline, and competitive excellence within the athletic performance environment.
3. Performance Assessment and Sports Science Support (15%)
• Administer athletic performance testing and assessment protocols.
• Collect, analyze, and maintain performance data to monitor student-athlete development and readiness.
• Prepare reports and communicate assessment results to coaches and support staff.
• Collaborate with sports medicine and coaching personnel to develop data-informed recommendations for athlete performance and wellness.
• Review current research, publications, and industry trends to support evidence-based training methodologies.
4. Facility Operations and Staff Development (10%)
• Assist with the day-to-day operation, organization, and maintenance of the athletic performance facility.
• Ensure the cleanliness, functionality, and safety of weight room equipment and training areas.
• Monitor equipment needs and coordinate maintenance or replacement as necessary.
• Supervise, mentor, and provide professional development opportunities for graduate assistants, interns, and student workers.
• Support the efficient operation of the athletic performance program through effective resource and personnel management.
5. Other Duties (5%)
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletics administration.
• Ensure compliance with University, NCAA, and SEC rules, policies, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
