What is a business performance coach?

A Business Performance Coach is a professional who helps individuals, teams, or organizations improve their effectiveness, productivity, and overall business outcomes. They work with clients to identify areas for growth, set clear goals, and develop actionable strategies to achieve those objectives. By providing guidance, accountability, and feedback, business performance coaches support sustainable improvements in leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Their goal is to unlock potential and drive measurable results within a business setting.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a business performance coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Business Performance Coach, you need expertise in business strategy, performance analysis, and goal setting, often supported by a degree in business or relevant coaching certifications. Familiarity with performance management software, project management tools, and assessment frameworks like KPIs or OKRs is typically required. Excellent communication, active listening, and motivational skills help foster trust and drive client growth. These capabilities are essential to effectively assess challenges, implement strategies, and empower clients to achieve measurable business improvements.

What are the most common challenges faced by business performance coaches when working with clients, and how can these be addressed?

Business Performance Coaches often encounter challenges such as client resistance to change, unclear goal setting, and maintaining consistent engagement throughout the coaching process. To address these, coaches use active listening, ask powerful questions to clarify objectives, and collaboratively develop actionable plans. Building trust and providing ongoing support also help clients stay motivated and accountable, leading to more effective outcomes.

Help Franchise Owners Build Bigger, Better, More Profitable Businesses
FlyLock Security Solutions is a growing national franchise network providing commercial security and access solutions through locally owned and operated businesses. Our franchisees serve commercial customers with solutions including access control, security cameras, door hardware, locksmith services, and related security technologies.
We are looking for an experienced Franchise Business Performance Coach to work directly with a portfolio of franchise owners and help them grow revenue, improve gross margins, and increase profitability.
This is not a traditional franchise support role. You will serve as a trusted business coach and performance partner to franchise owners—helping them identify opportunities, overcome obstacles, develop actionable plans, and hold themselves accountable for achieving measurable results.
What You'll Do
  • Coach franchise owners on strategies to grow revenue and profitability
  • Help owners develop leads and new commercial relationships within their territories.
  • Coach owners on business-to-business prospecting, partner development, networking, and local business development
  • Analyze franchisee performance and identify the root causes of revenue or profitability challenges.
  • Help owners improve the entire sales process—from lead generation and opportunity development through estimating, closing, project execution, follow-up, repeat business, and recurring revenue
  • Coach owners on pricing, gross-margin management, job costing, labor costs, and other factors affecting profitability
  • Help owners determine when additional investment in sales, technicians, staffing, or other resources is necessary to support profitable growth.
  • Develop measurable goals and practical action plans with franchise owners and hold them accountable for execution.
  • Use franchisee performance data and system benchmarks to identify opportunities and translate data into action.
  • Help owners improve workflow, scheduling, staffing, customer service, follow-up, and other operational areas that affect growth and profitability.
What We're Looking For
  • 5–10 years of franchise business coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to help business owners grow revenue and improve profitability
  • Strong understanding of franchisee/franchisor relationships.
  • Experience managing and coaching a portfolio of franchise owners.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including the ability to understand gross margin and P&L performance and translate financial information into practical business decisions.
  • Strong sales and business-development knowledge, particularly in a B2B environment
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish credibility with entrepreneurial business owners and hold them accountable.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to develop clear, measurable action plans and follow through on results.
  • Commercial and/or residential franchise experience preferred.
  • Prior locksmith, security, or related industry experience is a plus, but not required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Excel, video conferencing, and the ability to quickly learn proprietary business systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel periodically as needed.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be measured by the performance of the franchise owners you coach. The successful candidate will help owners generate more leads, develop more business, improve sales performance, build the right team, manage gross margins, and ultimately operate stronger and more profitable businesses

This is a remote position.
