DEPARTMENT: Enrollment Management

SUMMARY/SCOPE:
The position actively works to recruit, developrelationships, and guide prospective international students and their familiesthrough the international admission process and enroll at HSU. This positionregularly communicates through emails, phone calls, text messages, virtualmeetings (zoom and skype), as well as assisting with international admissionsevents (in-person and virtual). This position is designed to be an internationalambassador between the university and international students and their familiesthat are interested in attending HSU.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Encourage, advise, and assist perspective international students in starting and completing their international application process.
Promptly and accurately respond to emails, text messages, phone messages, and other correspondence received by perspective students, their families, and other international enrollment partners.
Proactively generate email, text message, phone calls, and other correspondence to engage with perspective international students and their families to encourage them to apply for admissions at HSU.
Assist in the processing of student applications. Including, but not limited to, contacting the applicant, collecting, and reviewing documents, and ensuring applicants to complete all stages of the international admissions, immigration, and arrival process.
Assist in applicant data entry. Including, but is not limited to, preparing and sorting documents for data entry, quickly and accurately entering data into Slate system, checking for errors and discrepancies.
Assist with international visits and special programs held by the office as needed or requested. Including, but not limited to, perspective student visits (in-person and virtual), new international student arrivals and orientation week, international week.
Participate in regular international admissions and sales team trainings as need or requested.
Required/Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Very professional demeanor with excellent customer service skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proactive approach to work and conflict resolution.
Ability to use good judgment and to exercise discretion.
Must be highly organized, disciplined, dependable, punctual, self-motivated, and can easily adapt to changing work circumstances.
Strong keyboarding skills, working knowledge of Microsoft office suite.
Working knowledge of necessary office equipment and machines, including but not limited to copiers, printers, scanners, phones, and computers.
Ability to work well with a diverse, multicultural staff and international students.
Must be able to work in an office or remotely as needed. Reliable access to internet for remote work.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Current HSU student.
International and multicultural experience is strongly preferred.
(Position 1) Fluent in Swahili and/or Kinyarwanda and (Position 2) Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and/or Spanish

This student worker position is expected to work over the Summer and Winter break periods due to the nature and cycle of international admissions. Applicants should be aware of this Summer and Winter working commitment prior to their application.
