Position Description:

The Event Sales Manager will report to the Director of Event Sales and be responsible for maximizing revenue with a focused approach on selling various event spaces as well as content development. This role will be responsible for selling and booking events, revenue goals will be achieved by cold calling, virtual and face to face meetings, networking in the community and researching new events and existing in market events to utilize available areas in the Deer District.


Ideally, this person has a working knowledge of the event sales business, experience in working with entertainment industry, event planners, and direct corporate level decision makers. Key traits that are important for this role are the ability to prospect, build relationships, close business and being detailed orientated, multi-tasking while maintaining an aggressive sales approach, all in coordination with the process.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies and business plans to maximize event sales for Deer District venues
  • Plan, execute and manage phone, email for all inbound and outbound sales
  • Prospect and cold call new business via networking, previous contacts, trade, publications, and date base companies
  • Meet or exceed annual sales goals
  • Conduct market research for new leads, and opportunities to enhance event experiences
  • Implement and demonstrate outbound sales efforts by using sales and service best practices, prospecting, networking, lead generation, data capture and personal database management
  • Build strong relationships and gain a deeper level of knowledge about potential customers, and the industry
  • Provide weekly reports on sales activity and pacing for sales goals
  • Attend team and community events for purpose of maximizing sales opportunities
  • Proactively create opportunities for new business with existing customers
  • Work collaboratively with other internal departments including but not limited to F&B, Ticketing, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Sponsorship and Deer District Tenants
  • Develop event sales proposals
  • Coordinate with sponsorship on curated and executing events that compliment sponsorship goals and enhance their brand and relationship with Milwaukee Bucks and Fiserv Forum
  • Work collaboratively with arena operations in order to maximize the utility of all facilities under management, per master calendar of events
  • Any other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • High professionalism and business demeanor
  • Strong knowledge of corporate and social event industry; local (Wisconsin/Northern Illinois) knowledge and contacts a must.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment and able to adapt quickly to change
  • Excellent oral and written communication as well as customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to initiate high-level contracts of perspective customers with strong persuasion and negotiation skills to close sales
  • The ability to learn booking software systems
  • Must have the ability to navigate the event venues in order to visit clients and escort potential customers on seat tours and fan experiences both on event days and non-event days
  • Lifting of 25lbs or more may be required
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Polished presentation skills with the ability to confidently react to situations in a timely and professional manner
  • This is not a remote position

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of four years of successful event sales, corporate sales, with evidence of solid business understanding of how to close business and manage sales process.
  • Proven record of developing and managing budgets and contract negotiation
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and attitude preferred
  • Proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
