Job description

        INTERIOR DESIGN ASSISTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION   



POSITION SUMMARY: 

  • Collaborative design of luxury aircraft interiors
  • Work with fabrics and materials regularly 
  • Select and present materials for use in aircraft
  • Create and maintain material finish definitions including special requirements and quantities
  • Create, maintain and follow schedules, deadlines, inventory and statuses
  • Create new elevations, floor plans, design control, styling and detail drawings and update existing drawings in AutoCAD
  • Work closely with Engineering to design aircraft interiors, provide solutions and incorporate changes as needed by Engineering
  • Report to and support the Chief Designer
  • Meet with vendors to discuss current materials 
  • Maintain and organize the Design Library
  • Abide by federal regulations as well as customer wants, desires and directions
  • Answer design related questions from other departments
  • Create presentations and color boards
  • Identify problems and creatively provide solutions
  • Coordinate with other departments and designers as required to ensure things are completed in a timely manner
  • Research vendors, hardware and fixtures related to each aircraft requirements
  • Evaluate and fully understand the customer desires while offering recommendations
  • Stay current with design trends and think innovatively for unique ideas related to design
  • Aesthetic and functional inspections of aircraft near completion
  • Support sales and warrant departments relating to design issues and new aircraft proposals
  • Create aircraft proposal floor plans according to the customer wants and specifications
  • Interact with customer designers and consultants regularly


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  • Associate's degree in interior design (Bachelors preferred)
  • Proven proficiency in drafting and computer assisted design programs
  • Firm understanding of color principles, textile/leather/carpet/wood/veneer techniques, processes and applications


REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient AutoCAD skills- a must
  • Microsoft Suite
  • Adobe / Photoshop
  • Must be extremely organized
  • Must be able to work with others collaboratively as well as alone with minimal supervision
  • Willing to travel for sales support, to meet with customers and to ensure quality regarding design related items
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written 


WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

The work environment described here is representative of those required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.

The office building where this position works is a typical office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues in the immediate vicinity of the workstation. The employee in this position will experience occasional outdoor exposure to heat, cold, and environmental elements when called upon to locate personnel working inside or outside of a Hangar.
