Job description

Series Entertainment is looking for a Chief Technology Officer to lead and scale the technical organization behind our next generation of AI-powered entertainment experiences.
Series sits in a unique position between startup velocity and operational maturity. We are a well-capitalized, revenue-generating company with live products and growing teams, while still operating with the speed, ownership, and innovation mindset of a builder-led organization. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in an environment where foundational decisions still matter and execution has immediate product impact.
The CTO role is primarily a strategic and organizational leadership position. While remaining technically credible and occasionally hands-on, the core responsibility is building strong engineering leadership, setting technical direction, and ensuring our teams are operating at the leading edge of modern development - particularly in AI-enabled workflows.
Reporting to the CEO (currently serving as Interim CTO), this leader will help define how AI transforms the creation of games and interactive entertainment. A central focus will be helping shape and scale Series' emerging user-generated content and creator platform (RUN) - enabling creators to build games, narrative experiences, and interactive media using AI-powered tools.
The ideal candidate is a strategic technologist and pragmatic operator: someone who elevates teams, modernizes technical approaches, and brings clear perspective on how the next generation of content platforms should be built.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Technical Leadership & Strategy
  • Define and evolve the company's technical vision in alignment with Series' AI-first product strategy.
  • Establish scalable architecture and engineering practices that support rapid experimentation and long-term growth.
  • Act as a technical thought partner to the CEO and executive team.
  • Bring informed perspective on the future of creator tools, UGC ecosystems, and AI-assisted content development.

People & Organizational Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a multidisciplinary engineering organization through strong technical leadership layers.
  • Coach engineering managers and tech leads in running effective, high-performing teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Help elevate technical excellence across the company, not just within engineering.

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, and Operations leadership to align technical execution with product goals.
  • Translate product vision into realistic technical roadmaps and delivery plans.
  • Ensure strong communication and shared ownership across departments.

AI Innovation & Thought Leadership
  • Drive adoption of modern AI tools and workflows across engineering and adjacent disciplines.
  • Help teams stay current with rapidly evolving AI capabilities and apply them pragmatically.
  • Guide experimentation while maintaining product quality and operational stability.
  • Act as a thought leader internally on how AI reshapes development velocity and creative possibility.

Execution & Operational Excellence
  • Improve engineering processes, planning, and delivery predictability.
  • Balance speed, quality, and technical sustainability in a startup environment.
  • Support hiring strategy and help attract world-class technical talent.

What You Bring to the Table
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including senior leadership roles.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams through growth and organizational scaling.
  • Strong track record as a people manager and organizational builder, not solely a technical IC.
  • Experience operating as a strategic technology leader within startup or high-growth environments
  • Clear point of view on how AI will transform software and content creation workflows
  • Experience introducing modern tooling, processes, or platform shifts that materially improved team effectiveness
  • Strong communication skills and ability to align technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, startup-style environment with evolving priorities.
Bonus Points For
  • Experience in games, interactive entertainment, or creator platforms.
  • Experience building or scaling UGC or platform ecosystems.
  • Experience building AI-enabled consumer products.
  • Prior CTO or VP Engineering experience at a startup or scaling company.
  • Experience leading distributed or global engineering teams.
  • Public technical thought leadership (talks, writing, open-source contributions, etc.).

Series Entertainment embraces diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We are an equal opportunity employer, welcoming individuals from various backgrounds, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran, or disability status. If you are driven by the challenge of enhancing development operations and want to impact the future of gaming technology, we want to hear from you!
