Strategic Communication Outreach Specialist

Level: Senior | Work Location: Hybrid โ€“ McLean, VA

This position is contingent upon contract award.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Red Carrot is seeking a Strategic Communication Outreach Specialist to develop and execute integrated communication strategies and marketing initiatives that promote the customer's research and technology program and expand readership of its flagship publications. This senior-level role blends strategic planning with hands-on content creation and stakeholder engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and execute comprehensive outreach strategies and promotional campaigns across multiple audiences and channels
  • Lead marketing efforts to grow magazine subscriptions and digital readership, including quarterly promotions and author feature coordination
  • Create written and visual content for social media, web pages, and electronic newsletters
  • Conduct market research and reader surveys to refine outreach strategies and measure campaign effectiveness using analytics
  • Provide staffing and marketing support for tradeshows, conferences, and outreach events
  • Translate complex technical and policy information into compelling narratives for technical and general audiences
  • Support internal communications and employee engagement initiatives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
  • 6-10 years of progressively responsible experience in strategic communications, digital marketing, and public affairs
  • Demonstrated track record developing social media campaigns that measurably grow subscriptions or readership
  • Federal environment experience and familiarity with transportation research (highway/surface transportation) preferred
  • Ability to obtain a USDOT Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential
