Geotab is seeking a Strategic Communications Specialist who will execute Geotab's communications strategy by developing and implementing impactful communication initiatives that build the company's reputation, drive media engagement, and advance business objectives. What you'll do:
As a Strategic Communications Specialist, your key area of responsibility will be executing communications strategies across media relations, content creation, and measurement to support Geotab's thought leadership and brand awareness goals. You will be responsible for managing media reporting programs, coordinating campaigns and media briefings, and building meaningful relationships with journalists and external stakeholders. You will also need to work closely with Geotab's Marketing team, senior leaders, and external media partners to ensure consistent and impactful storytelling.
To be successful in this role you will be a naturally curious, outgoing, and confident communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with journalists, executives, and partners. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, hands-on experience with media monitoring and measurement tools, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while staying current on emerging communications trends and best practices.
How you'll make an impact:
  • Develop and execute communication initiatives that deliver impactful messaging to a diverse audience and advance Geotab's business growth objectives.
  • Create content and storytelling strategy to support Geotab's overall media and thought leadership strategy, including media releases, social media, presentations and background research/data analysis.
  • Manage the Geotab reporting program including media metrics, wire distribution, insights, and dashboards (CISION, Meltwater, Google Analytics, and others).
  • Coordinate and own the strategy and logistics of campaigns, announcements, media briefings, press interactions and presence at strategic industry events.
  • Build and manage relationships with journalists and external stakeholders to build reputation and create ongoing opportunities to tell Geotab's business story.
  • Monitor and evaluate evolving media trends, tools, and technologies (including AI-driven solutions) and recommend improvements to elevate communications practices and impact.
  • Conduct ongoing competitive analysis and benchmarking to inform strategic communications and social media strategy.
What you'll bring to the role:
  • 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications, technology communications, and/or agency experience.
  • Proven experience in media relations, including building and managing networks of journalists, trade reporters, and social media influencers, with a focus on North America.
  • Hands-on experience with media measurement and monitoring tools such as CISION, Meltwater, Google Analytics, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to create compelling content across multiple formats including media releases, social media, and presentations.
  • Experience with strategic planning, annual plan development, and reporting on media and social media performance metrics.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; a postgraduate diploma in Communications or PR is considered a strong asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Confident, polished communicator with the ability to represent Geotab with journalists, executives, partners, and at industry events.
