Job Summary


The VP, Integrated System Communications charts a course for integrated communications that advances the mission, vision and brand promise of Corewell Health. The scope of this role includes internal, external and executive communications for a variety of stakeholders and audiences including employees, system executives and leaders, board members, physicians and other clinical staff, patients and family members, industry leaders and members of the communities in which we serve.
The VP, Integrated System Communications is an exceptional communicator and influential leader who thrives on building trust, inspiring confidence and growing relationships. The VP has a proven track record of using communications to elevate organizational reputation and brand trust. This leader imagines the possibilities and casts a vision while at the same time drives toward clarity and strategic prioritization for key customer groups and for their own teams.
In this role, primary customer groups include the System Leadership Team (SLT), regional presidents and their leadership teams, the Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer and leaders across the Brand Marketing, Communications and Consumer Experience group.
The VP, System Communications is a strategic thinker with a high degree of intellectual horsepower, a servant leader passionate about creating an inclusive and inspiring culture for their teams, and a seasoned communicator with strong personal and professional alignment with our organizational values and our departmental focus on innovation and growth.

Essential Functions
  • The VP, System Communications casts a vision and charts a strategic course for the internal, executive and external communications of Corewell Health.
  • Leads internal communications and the optimization of various internal comms channels including the corporate intranet (both web and mobile-based platforms). Supports HR comms and the development of organizational culture in partnership with the System Leadership Team (SLT), regional presidents and their leadership teams, the Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer and others. Supports the creation of self-service tools for team members and leaders throughout the system and establishes a customer service model for high priority departments.
  • Leads the strategy for executive communications and serves as the key point of contact for the Office of the President & CEO, as well as other SLT executives. Develops a comprehensive messaging platform with a clear, consistent narrative - aligning enterprise strategy and vision, mission-critical priorities, and the voice of the brand.
  • Leads external communications including both proactive and reactive public relations, as well as crisis communications. Builds brand trust and reputation at local, regional and national levels. Anticipates communications challenges; prepares effectively for the unexpected; remains calm and provides clarity in crisis management. A poised and polished speaker, the VP draws from experience earned by representing other organizations at the size, scale and scope of the Corewell Health system.
  • Effectively uses data & insights to drive communications forward, meeting audience members where they are.
  • Leads and develops a highly effective team capable of fulfilling the strategic objectives outlined in plans for internal, executive and external communications. Inspires leaders and team members across communications functions to innovate, collaborate and educate one another and with other functions across the department.
Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree in communications or similar field of study
  • Preferred Master's Degree in a related field, MBA or similar
  • 15 years of relevant experience progressive experience in communications Required
  • 10 years of relevant experience leading communications for large (10,000+) organizations, preferably in a highly regulated industry such as health care and/or coverage, higher education, banking / finance, foodservice or similar industries Required
