Job Summary
Provides Subcontract Default Insurance underwriting support and technical assistance to underwriters, management, and other staff. Performs duties associated with project issuance and/or broker change, processing activities in SDI/corporate systems, and file maintenance. Provides exceptional customer service and support to internal/external customers. Mentors/trains other underwriting support employees; and research and resolve the most complex processing and bond reconciliation problems.

The candidate can work from anywhere in the U.S. and will need to report to a Liberty Mutual office twice a week, provided there is an office within 50 miles.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for highly detailed SDI/broker/processing transactions, which may align to a defined territory. May include understanding new business, renewals, cancellations, endorsements, broker file set-up, licensing/appointment processing, including resolving reconciliation problems as necessary. Review, reconcile, and update reports as directed.
  • Provide assistance in various underwriting and support functions (i.e. project request, state regulatory and compliance requirements, and Bordereau schedules).
  • Requires a high level of independent interaction with customers. Services and responds to internal and external customer needs by providing exceptional customer service. Assists customers with inquiries, answer questions, and follows up to ensure customer satisfaction. Informs Underwriting Officer, and/or designee of issues as appropriate.
  • Retrieves information relative to the execution of various SDI/broker related documents with attention to detail and accuracy. Applies critical thinking and technical knowledge of SDI operations processing activities to complete assignments/tasks working within defined policies and procedures to optimize planned business results.
  • Mentors and trains others to fulfill tasks within their job responsibilities and performance standards and acts as a resource and subject-matter-expert for workflows and processes (i.e., complex processing transactions, reinsurance, assumed and ceded transactions).
  • May perform technical support within the office and assists in the resolution of technical problems in coordination with the Department Application Specialists. Participates in User Acceptance Testing as assigned.
  • Performs general office support duties, which may also include assisting finance with collection inquiries, and billing/premium discrepancies.
  • Insurance Policy Experience preferred
  • Performs additional duties/special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years surety bond underwriting assistant experienced or related experience desired.
  • Understanding of surety rating and processing functions preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work well on a team and independently.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to organize personal work flow as well as the work flow of others.
  • Competent and proficient with computer software applications utilized by Surety.
  • Exhibits high degree of independence and proficiency in bond processing/assigned task
