Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and motivate a team of Account Managers and/or Customer Service Representatives.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture built on accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions to develop technical knowledge, communication skills, and overall performance.
  • Recognize employee achievements and celebrate team successes.
  • Identify future leaders and assist in succession planning.

Performance Management

  • Monitor individual and team productivity, service levels, and performance metrics.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Hold team members accountable for agency standards, KPIs, and service expectations.
  • Develop performance improvement plans when necessary.
  • Assist management with employee evaluations and development plans.

Training & Onboarding

  • Train and onboard new employees on agency procedures, systems, and best practices.
  • Coordinate ongoing training for carrier updates, coverage knowledge, sales techniques, and customer service excellence.
  • Ensure employees remain current on underwriting guidelines and insurance products.
  • Promote continuous learning and professional development.

Daily Operations

  • Oversee daily workflow and ensure work is distributed efficiently across the team.
  • Monitor workloads, priorities, and service turnaround times.
  • Ensure policies, endorsements, renewals, claims support, and client requests are handled accurately and promptly.
  • Remove operational bottlenecks and assist employees in managing competing priorities.


Client Service Excellence

  • Ensure every client receives a consistent, exceptional customer experience.
  • Assist team members with complex coverage questions, difficult client situations, escalated service issues, and retention efforts.
  • Support negotiations and help resolve high-priority client concerns.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction, retention, and service quality metrics.


Sales & Business Development

  • Support producers and service staff in achieving agency growth goals.
  • Coach team members on cross-selling, account rounding, referrals, and client retention strategies.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve revenue while delivering superior protection for clients.
  • Encourage proactive annual reviews and coverage consultations.


Quality Assurance

  • Review files for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Perform quality assurance audits on policy servicing activities.
  • Ensure documentation standards are consistently followed.
  • Monitor adherence to agency procedures and service standards.


Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with carrier guidelines, state insurance regulations, licensing requirements, and agency policies.
  • Promote ethical business practices and professional conduct.
  • Help reduce Errors & Omissions (E&O) exposure through proper documentation and quality control.
  • Reinforce agency compliance initiatives and best practices.


Communication & Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary liaison between frontline staff and management.
  • Communicate agency initiatives, procedural changes, and carrier updates.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute ideas for improving agency performance.
  • Encourage open communication, teamwork, and knowledge sharing.


Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, efficiency, and customer experience.
  • Recommend process enhancements and operational improvements.
  • Assist with implementing new technologies, automation, and agency procedures.
  • Help develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.


Decision Support

  • Assist managers with staffing recommendations, scheduling, and resource planning.
  • Provide insight into employee performance and development opportunities.
  • Support strategic planning and execution of departmental goals.
  • Help management identify trends affecting productivity, retention, and service quality.

Requirements
  • Valid Virginia Property & Casualty Insurance License (Required).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance sales, with a proven track record of success.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership or supervisory roles within an insurance sales environment.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and standard office productivity suites.
  • Strong understanding of insurance products, underwriting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor a sales team.
