Role Description
The Flooring Installation Technician isresponsible for the preparation, fitting, and installation of carpet, flooring,tile and related interior materials within VIP aircraft. Working under thedirection of an experienced Installer or Lead and part of the overallcompletions team, this position ensures flooring and carpet installations meetapproved design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.The role requires the ability to interpret material specifications andengineering documentation, properly use installation tools and equipment, andcomplete required documentation in accordance with Comlux procedures andregulatory requirements. The technician may also assist with the installationand modification of fabricated aircraft interior components includingcabinetry, galleys, closets, divans, lavatories, side ledges, bulkheads, trim,panels and other cabin interior furnishings used in VIP aircraft completionprojects.
Essential Job Functions
โ€ข Install carpet, flooring, tile and relatedaircraft interior materials in accordance with approved design specifications,engineering documentation, and established installation procedures.
โ€ข Measure, cut, fit, seam, and secure flooringmaterials to achieve accurate fit, alignment, and finish.
โ€ข Prepare aircraft surfaces and components forflooring installation, ensuring proper cleanliness, condition, and preparationprior to installation.
โ€ข Read and interpret engineering drawings,material specifications, work instructions, and other technical documentationnecessary to complete assigned work.
โ€ข Verify installed flooring meets designspecifications, quality standards, workmanship requirements, and customerexpectations.
โ€ข Identify and communicate material, fit,finish, or installation discrepancies to the appropriate Lead or Supervisor.
โ€ข Request and maintain required materials,tools, and equipment in a timely manner to support continuous workflow.
โ€ข Properly use hand tools, power tools,measuring equipment, and specialized flooring installation equipment.
โ€ข Complete required production and qualitydocumentation, including appropriate sign-offs and installation records, inaccordance with the Comlux Repair Station Manual (RSQM) and applicable qualityrequirements.
โ€ข Maintain proper care and protection of theaircraft, interior components, tools, and customer property throughout theinstallation process.
โ€ข Follow all applicable safety procedures,department processes, Internal Operating Procedures (IOPs), and regulatoryrequirements.
โ€ข Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workarea throughout the installation process.
โ€ข Support continuous improvement initiativesby identifying opportunities to improve installation methods, quality,efficiency, and material utilization.
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Education andExperience
โ€ข High School Diploma or GED required;relevant trade school or vocational training preferred.
โ€ข One (1) year of carpet, tile, or wood flooring,interior installation, upholstery, cabinetry, or related skilled-tradeexperience preferred.
โ€ข Previous experience in corporate aviation,aircraft completions, or a manufacturing environment is preferred.
โ€ข Ability to read, write, speak, andunderstand the English language.
โ€ข Ability to read and interpret basicblueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
โ€ข Ability to obtain and maintain requiredcompany and regulatory training.
Required Skills and Abilities
โ€ข Basic knowledge of flooring installationtechniques, including measuring, cutting, fitting, seaming, and securingmaterials.
โ€ข Ability and willingness to learn aircraftinterior installation processes and procedures.
โ€ข Ability to accurately measure and work withprecision in a highly detailed environment.
