Job description

GovCIO is currently hiring for an Infrastructure Administrator to support modernization efforts. This position will be located in Langley AFB in Hampton, VA and will be a full time onsite position.
Responsibilities
We are seeking an Infrastructure Administrator responsible for supporting and maintaining the organization's core IT systems. In this role, you will implement and sustain telecommunication and data infrastructure, ensuring stable and efficient operations across the enterprise. Infrastructure Administrator will coordinate the execution of IT procedures and policies, conduct daily system monitoring and maintenance, and perform routine backups to safeguard organizational data. You will also provide essential network troubleshooting and end-user support, assisting with both hardware and software issues. Additionally, this position is responsible for implementing and upholding security, network usage, and disaster recovery policies to maintain a secure and resilient IT environment. The ability to travel internationally as required, including possession of a valid passport, to support the installation of routers, switches, and other network equipment across the global locations; essential for SDWAN and ESC/DSH upgrade efforts. This position is located at Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Virginia.
Key Responsibilities
  • Systems and Server Management
    • Install, configure, maintain physical and virtual servers across multiple operating systems; apply patches, updates, and monitor performance.
  • Network Administration
    • Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points; maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Storage and Back-up Management
    • Manage SAN storage, HBA configurations, backup solutions, and implement disaster recovery plans.
  • Security and Compliance
    • Implement security policies, run audits, manage SSL certificates and antivirus tools, and ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards.
  • End-User Support
    • Provide 1st and 2nd level hardware and software support to assist with troubleshooting and communicate effectively with users and stakeholders.
  • Automation and Scripting
    • Develop and maintain scripts (shell, Perl, PowerShell) to automate administrative tasks and streamline infrastructure management.
  • Project Coordination
    • Lead or assist with IT projects including server migrations, SAN upgrades, virtualization, and cloud integration; collaborate with vendors and internal teams.
  • Documentation
    • Maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, configurations, network diagrams, and support activities.

High School with 6 - 9 years (or commensurate experience)
