What is an independent living program?

An Independent Living Program (ILP) is a service designed to help young people, especially those transitioning out of foster care or other systems, develop the skills needed to live independently. These programs typically offer support in areas such as finding housing, budgeting, employment, education, and life skills. The goal is to empower participants to successfully manage their own lives and achieve self-sufficiency. ILPs may also provide mentorship and access to community resources to ensure a smoother transition to adulthood.
