Immigration paralegals assist their clients in the process of becoming legal residents or naturalized citizens. Immigration paralegals communicate with clients, research various aspects of immigration law, and some translate documents. They also identify, obtain, and assist in completing required documentation for each case under the supervision of immigration attorneys. Immigration paralegals write and file petitions in court on behalf of their clients and help clients prepare for interviews with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). They support the immigration lawyers and help keep them organized by researching specific aspects of immigration law, drafting files, and managing deadlines.
