Job description

The Creativity Apps team is looking for a Software Image Quality Manager to lead, mentor, and grow a team of Image Quality Engineers fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. It requires a highly proactive individual with strong creative, technical, and analytic skills, and a passion for new technologies related to image/color science, computer vision/on-device machine learning.
Description
In this role, you will be responsible for planning, designing, maintaining, and overseeing the evaluation and validation of AI and ML models used in photo and video editing features, ensuring their accuracy, performance, and impact on image/video quality. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teams to understand feature requirements, identify potential quality risks, and help mitigate them throughout the development lifecycle. Establish and maintain objective and subjective image quality metrics and benchmarks. Champion a quality-first culture across the organization, present quality findings to product and leadership teams.
Preferred Qualifications
iOS and macOS familiarity.
Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and their application in image processing.
Experience in implementing AIML editing features in photo and video editing applications.
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for test automation and data analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of experience in a managerial or leadership capacity, managing a team.
5+ years of experience in imaging, video processing, or computational photography quality.
Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Image Processing, or a related subject area, or we may consider an equivalent industry experience.
Prior experience in image quality evaluation and testing for photo and video applications.
Strong understanding of digital image processing, color/image science, compression algorithms, and video codecs.
Experience with AI/ML model evaluation and validation, particularly in computer vision or image manipulation contexts.
Knowledge of HDR workflows and advanced color grading techniques.
Experience with objective and subjective image quality assessment techniques.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency with relevant QA tools and software testing methodologies.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $228,100 and $342,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
