Job description

District Manager Flex – Job Posting

At Maverik, we don’t just offer jobs, we offer adventures!
We’re looking for a hands-on, people-focused District Manager to lead and develop Store Directors across the California market. This is an opportunity to make a real impact—coaching leaders, improving operations, and shaping the culture across multiple stores. If you thrive on helping others grow and love creating high-performing teams, this adventure is for you.

Why this role matters:
This role directly impacts store performance, profitability, and team engagement by developing Store Directors and ensuring exceptional operations across the district.

Location/Schedule:
This role is based in the California market. The District Manager typically spends approximately four days each week in stores and one day working from home for planning and reporting. The schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, with off-shift expectations that may include evenings, overnights, weekends, and being on call 24/7 to respond to emergencies. This flex role also requires the ability to travel overnight as needed, up to 80% of the time.

Position Summary & Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
The District Manager leads a group of Store Directors, focusing on operational excellence, people development, and financial performance.

  • Coach and mentor Store Directors to drive accountability, leadership growth, and engagement.
  • Oversee daily operations and ensure compliance with Maverik standards, policies, and safety requirements.
  • Analyze P&L results and operational metrics to identify performance opportunities.
  • Partner with Food Service teams to improve product quality, waste control, and profitability.
  • Implement company initiatives and business plans across all stores in the district.
  • Conduct regular store visits and quarterly off-cycle shifts for visibility into all operations.

You’ll be a great fit for this adventure if you have:

  • 5+ years of retail management experience with progressive responsibility, including multi-unit oversight.
  • Strong leadership and coaching ability with proven success developing teams and improving performance.
  • Operational expertise in areas like inventory, foodservice, waste control, and customer experience.
  • Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and analyzing P&L results.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, able to manage tough conversations confidently.
  • The Maverik Spirit – you’re a clear communicator, team player, and problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, people-first environment.

Bonus points if you also bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.
  • Previous convenience store or foodservice leadership experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $80,000-$105,000 + DOE and Bonus Opportunities

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Maverik considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the experience of the candidate, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Benefits Include:

  • Full Health, Dental, and Vision Package with company contribution to cost
  • In-Store and Fuel Discounts
  • Retirement plan with company match (401K)
  • Eligible for the annual incentive bonus program
  • Profit Sharing: When Maverik succeeds, so do you. Team Members are eligible for annual profit sharing—our way of recognizing the important role you play in our success
  • Comprehensive Paid Time-Off Policy, along with additional perks and benefits
