What You’ll do

 The District Manager leads a team of Store Managers in their district in building revenue by focusing on people, budget, in-stock, price, process, and the customer experience. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to drive profit and grow talent.

  • Drive the overall financial performance of the district by analyzing financial reports and effectively communicating with your team to meet budget goals such as: sales, labor, shrink, and operating expense.
  • Set the expectation and drive the execution of people initiatives, in-stock, pricing, front end service, RK Visa and Rural King Purchase Protection Plan.
  • Understand opportunities in the district and work through the Store Managers to overcome obstacles.
  • Maximize inventory management, cash controls and loss prevention effectiveness.
  • Support the company growth by identifying and developing internal talent.
  • Promote opportunities to attract customers to become Rural King associates.
  • Manage and support customer service initiatives, empower our associates to take care of customers, and ensure customer concerns are resolved.
  • Represent Rural King’s Mission and Values.
  • Demonstrate effective and consistent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Establish and preserve a professional work atmosphere and be a role model for the team.
  • Measure outcomes to ensure desired results and hold the team accountable.
  • Exemplify the leadership behaviors taught in Rural King’s Thrive Leadership Program.
  • Responsible for mitigating company risk, driving a culture of safety, and complying with all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Use discretion and independent judgment in daily decisions while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.

Essential Qualities for Success
  • At least 7 years of retail management experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 2+ years multi-store retail management experience preferred.
  • Ability to relocate as business dictates.
  • Ability to travel from store to store on a daily basis (could stay 3-4 overnights per week based on business needs) and work to support the business needs in peak and holiday timeframes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Must meet federal requirements to qualify to obtain a Federal Firearms License (FFL) and any applicable local requirements.
  • Ability to access and use the in-store computer, handheld device, pallet jack, and other retail equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to effectively coach and mentor team members.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and delegate tasks.
  • Behaviors must reflect integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
 Physical Requirements  
  • Ability to maintain a seated or standing position for extended durations.
  • Ability to operate machinery such as a forklift, pallet jack, handheld inventory device and other retail equipment.
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull a minimum of 30 pounds repetitively and 31-50 pounds intermittently.
  • Able to navigate and access all facilities.
  • Skill to effectively communicate verbally with others, both in-person and via electronic devices.
  • Close vision for computer-related tasks.
