Job description

Position Summary

As an Ignition Developer, you will design, develop, test, and support industrial software solutions that connect manufacturing operations with enterprise systems. You will work across SCADA, MES, reporting, analytics, traceability, and system integration projects, helping customers gain visibility into their operations and make better business decisions through data.

This role is ideal for a highly motivated self-starter who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working at the intersection of operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT). The successful candidate will combine software development skills with practical manufacturing knowledge to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions that create measurable value for our customers.

This is a full-time remote position with limited travel requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, configure, and maintain industrial applications using Ignition Perspective and Vision.

  • Design and implement MES, OEE, production tracking, traceability, reporting, and manufacturing analytics solutions.

  • Create and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, database schemas, and data models to support reliable data collection and reporting.

  • Integrate Ignition with PLCs, industrial devices, ERP systems, REST APIs, cloud services, and other enterprise applications.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving application functionality, database performance, communications, and system integrations.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate business objectives into practical software solutions.

  • Support project deployments, customer acceptance testing, commissioning activities, and ongoing customer support.

  • Contribute to internal software frameworks, development standards, reusable modules, and best practices that improve consistency and delivery efficiency.

  • Maintain clear technical documentation, configuration standards, and support procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience developing applications using Ignition in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Strong Python programming skills.

  • Experience interacting with PLC-controlled equipment and understanding manufacturing processes.

  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing performance metrics, including OEE, downtime tracking, production monitoring, and operational reporting.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.

  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or TimescaleDB.

  • Experience developing MES, SCADA, manufacturing intelligence, or digital transformation solutions.

  • Familiarity with REST APIs, web services, ERP integrations, and enterprise software platforms.

  • Experience with MQTT, OPC UA, and industrial communication protocols.

  • Experience working with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation platforms.

  • Familiarity with source control systems and modern software development practices.

  • Experience supporting automotive, aerospace, food & beverage, or general manufacturing customers.

  • Experience supporting customer deployments, commissioning, or startup activities.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who thrives in environments where IT and OT intersect.

The ideal candidate is a software developer who understands manufacturing. You've spent time around PLCs, machines, and production environments, but your passion is building software that helps manufacturers operate more efficiently. You take ownership of your work, sweat the details, and don't wait to be told what to do next.

You enjoy solving difficult problems, learning new technologies, and helping customers succeed. Most importantly, you're excited about contributing to a growing team where your impact is visible and your work directly shapes the future of the company.
