Job Summary:
The ideal candidate has a P.E. in Electrical Engineering and is able to do a full Electrical design beginning with the building's Electrical infrastructure. This candidate will be assigned to project(s) to lead the Electrical design. Accepts direction and supervision well. Able to work well in a team environment and provide guidance to graduate Electrical Engineers. Able to lead the Electrical discussion on client facing meetings. Perform drafting to illustrate designs they have conceived.
General Duties:
  • Performs and oversees full electrical design for complex projects, beginning with one-line diagrams through construction documentation.
  • Coordinates with contractors, vendors, and field personnel to address constructability issues and respond to RFIs during construction.
  • Conducts site investigations and field observations to identify discrepancies between design documents and existing conditions; recommends corrective actions.
  • Leads and mentors graduate and junior electrical engineers, providing technical guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Assists in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, studies, permits and designs for assigned projects.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Works in a collaborative, fast-paced design-build environment to meet project deadlines and budgetary goals.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of current technologies, materials, and state/local regulations.
  • Able to work in a team environment to meet deadlines.
  • Operates engineering software to solve specific problems, and inputs the data required by the program.
  • Familiarize themselves with state-of-the-art design and various state and local regulations.
  • Supports business development by contributing to proposals, estimating design hours, and assisting in pursuit presentations when required.

Skills:
  • Leads electrical design and coordination efforts with mechanical, plumbing, structural, and architectural disciplines to ensure fully integrated MEP solutions.
  • Manages and represents the electrical discipline in client-facing and design-build coordination meetings, communicating design intent and resolving technical issues.
  • Reviews and approves design deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Performs advanced calculations including load analysis, short-circuit, arc flash, and voltage drop, using relevant design software (e.g. SKM, ETAP).

Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineering license in Electrical Engineering.
  • 6+ years of experience working in an Electrical Consulting role or similar position.
  • Experience running the electrical design on complicated projects in the past is a plus.
