Job description

Technical Sales Specialist

The Technical Sales Specialist is responsible for sales growth of hydraulic systems and components in the states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York. They are responsible for developing new business and supporting sales of the hydraulic product manufacturers represented by RG Group. This includes providing technical and sales support to the customer service and sales teams. The role serves as the liaison to key vendors and the development of an annual business plan for each vendor, as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sales Growth: Execute territory sales strategies to achieve revenue and profit goals for our hydraulic and filtration product lines.
  • Business Development: Identify new prospects and build partnerships across target industries (manufacturing, construction, agriculture, mining, etc.)
  • Technical Consulting: Assess customer needs, read engineered schematics, and recommend appropriate hydraulic components, filters, and fluid power systems.
  • Account Management: Visit job sites and client facilities to conduct system audits, troubleshoot performance issues, and present cost-saving solutions.
  • Team Work: Work closely with internal teams, including sales, customer service, engineering, purchasing, and operations, to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Vendor Management: Serve as the POC for key vendors, driving strategic growth initiatives, product line development, joint customer engagement activities, quarterly business reviews, and performance metrics
  • CRM & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer files, track sales pipelines, and forecast future revenue.
  • Market Awareness: Monitor competitor activity, track industry trends, and provide feedback to internal product teams

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 5-10 years' experience in hydraulic sales. Certified Fluid Power Hydraulic Specialist preferred.

  • None specifically associated with this position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Remote work according to an independently created schedule.
  • 50-60% Car travel required.
  • Occasional air travel will be required.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
