Inside Sales Representative

Denver, CO | Full-Time
Expected Starting Pay: $24-$29/hour

About the Opportunity

Hydraulic Controls, Inc. is seeking an Inside Sales Representative to join our Denver branch.

This is a customer-facing sales and account-support role serving industrial customers who rely on HCI for hydraulic, electronic, power-transmission, and related products. You will manage a portfolio of designated customer accounts while also supporting the branch’s broader customer-service needs.

The role is a strong fit for someone who combines excellent customer service with mechanical aptitude, commercial judgment, and the ability to solve problems quickly. You will work closely with customers, suppliers, Outside Sales, and branch operations to keep orders moving, resolve issues, and identify opportunities to grow customer relationships.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as the primary HCI contact for designated OEM, resale, and end-user customer accounts.
  • Prepare quotes, process sales orders, communicate order acknowledgments, and follow orders through delivery.
  • Respond to customer questions regarding products, pricing, availability, lead times, and order status.
  • Troubleshoot order and availability issues by researching products, sourcing parts, coordinating stock transfers, drop shipments, and approved purchases.
  • Work with suppliers to obtain pricing, technical information, availability, and expedited delivery when needed.
  • Monitor account pricing and margins and identify potential margin erosion or other commercial concerns.
  • Process credit memos, warranty returns, and related customer transactions.
  • Recommend complementary products and accessories when appropriate.
  • Identify potential new sales opportunities and coordinate leads with Outside Sales.
  • Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and sales information in HCI’s CRM and ERP systems.

What You Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college or trade-school coursework is helpful.
  • At least one year of customer service and hydraulic sales experience.
  • Mechanical and mathematical aptitude with a basic understanding of hydraulic, electronic, or power-transmission systems.
  • Ability to recognize common hydraulic components, research product information, and learn supplier product lines and part-number systems.
  • Strong customer-service skills with a commitment to responsiveness and follow-through.
  • Good business judgment related to pricing, profitability, and customer needs.
  • Ability to solve problems independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate clearly with customers, suppliers, and coworkers.
  • Experience with ERP systems; TrulinX experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Why Join HCI?

Hydraulic Controls, Inc. is a 100% employee-owned fluid power distributor and systems provider serving customers throughout the Western United States. For 60 years, our employee-owners and supplier partners have built HCI’s reputation through technical expertise, ethical business practices, responsive customer service, and dependable local support.

HCI offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan eligibility
  • 401(k) plan with a 4.5% company match
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Employer-paid life and disability insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program

Through HCI’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan, eligible employees can build an ownership stake in the company over time at no direct cost to them, subject to plan eligibility and vesting requirements.
