Job description

The main office is in Providence but has occasional travel to towns throughout the South County region (Coventry โ€“ Westerly). Travel time in south county will vary according to when school is in session, with summer and winter breaks not requiring travel. Otherwise approx.. 15 hours per week on average.

There will be travel expected to the high schools within the local region. There will be no reimbursement for mileage.ย 

Location: Central RI

  • Processes case data information not limited to applications, eligibility data, Individualized Plans for Employment, case notes, case closures, and authorizations.
  • Works directly with customers by obtaining referral information and implement procedures necessary to acquire vocational, psychological, and medical diagnostics used in the determination of eligibility and the vocational process.
  • Completes the VR Applications and assesses resource needs.
  • Conducts thorough search for customers where contact has been lost through all means known to the agency; i.e., phone, email, text, snail mail, etc.
  • Provides administrative support and/or technical assistance to professional staff such as:
        • Processing data
        • Answering correspondence
        • Routine technical reports to aid in the completion of casework and to facilitate caseload management.
        • Documenting activities in customer case record
        • Responding to routine community inquires and participates in community education and job fairs and other assigned activities.
  • Conducts interviews with potential customers to explain vocational rehabilitation programs.
  • Assists in collecting diagnostic information to be used in determining eligibility.
  • Schedules appointment for customers to meet with VRCโ€™s and assists in maintaining contact with customers.
  • Reviews invoices received from vendors, obtains counselor approval, and processes invoices through the Support Staff.
  • Provides support as designated by the counselor.
  • Assists in inputting casework data into relevant applications throughout the rehabilitation process and preparing documents including authorizations and correspondence as needed.
  • Will be expected to travel to local schools and other areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelorโ€™s Degree in a Human Service field preferred but will accept Associates Degree with classes/and or experience in psychology, social work, education, and/or special education.

Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills, MS Word, Google Docs, Excel, Ability to multitask, and be flexible. Good organizational skills.
