POSITION SUMMARY

The Bilingual HR Generalist – People & Culture serves as a trusted HR partner to employees, managers, and operational leadership across Catayu Group and Tapatia Supermarket locations.

This is a hands-on, people-focused role. The HR Generalist will regularly visit locations, build relationships with employees and managers, support workplace culture, and help create a positive and consistent employee experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People, Culture & Employee Relations

  • Build strong and trusting relationships with employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Maintain a visible and approachable HR presence across assigned locations.
  • Promote a culture of respect, teamwork, accountability, and open communication.
  • Conduct fair and timely investigations of workplace concerns.
  • Coach managers on employee relations, communication, conflict resolution, and disciplinary matters.
  • Support employee engagement, recognition, retention, and morale.

Talent Acquisition & Employee Development

  • Partner with managers to identify staffing needs and coordinate recruitment.
  • Support hiring and onboarding for exempt and non-exempt positions.
  • Help ensure new employees understand company expectations, policies, and culture.
  • Identify opportunities to develop and promote employees from within the organization.
  • Support performance evaluations, coaching, performance improvement plans, and employee development.

Training & Leadership Support

  • Identify training needs through employee feedback, manager discussions, and workplace observations.
  • Coordinate employee and management training programs.
  • Coach supervisors and managers on effective leadership and managing diverse teams.
  • Support leadership development and career-growth opportunities.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, EEOC, OSHA, I-9, and E-Verify requirements.
  • Maintain HR policies, procedures, documentation, and employee records.
  • Assist leadership with workforce planning and organizational changes.
  • Participate in HR projects related to culture, employee engagement, process improvement, and company growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred.

Experience:
4–7 years of progressive Human Resources experience. Multi-location experience is strongly preferred.

Experience in retail, supermarkets/grocery, hospitality, distribution, manufacturing, healthcare, or another high-volume employee environment is highly desirable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to connect with employees from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Ability to coach and influence managers.
