GENERAL SUMMARY

 

This position assists the Human Resources Department in a variety of ways following the Tenneco standards. This position is responsible for a variety of event planning and the cares & concerns processes, assists with hourly hiring, and maintains personnel records and systems. This position is responsible for contributing to a safe work place and minimizing negative environmental impacts by complying with the EHS policies, procedures, work instructions outlined in the EHSMS Training Assessment for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with recruitment, requisition folders, phone screens, assessments, schedules and/or conducts interviews, maintains orientation packets, and builds a talent pool as needed.
  • Distributes, tracks, and records hourly team member evaluations and disciplinary action.
  • Works with supervisors and other HR personnel to track attendance & administer attendance warnings.
  • Administration of personnel files including the hiring and termination checklists.
  • Assists as a backup for the hourly payroll processes.
  • Maintains security badge system.
  • Assists in maintaining conference rooms and training rooms including beverage supplies, coffee condiments, and snacks.
  • Maintains a variety of administrative duties, such as mail distribution, bulletin boards, legal postings, record keeping (filing, shredding, scanning, etc.).
  • Assist employees with questions, concerns, and suggestions for improvement.
  • Orders flowers, coordinates edible arrangements, gift cards, and other items using the recognition and cares and concerns procedure as a guide.
  • Coordinates lunches, various events planning, merchandise orders, and ticket drawings.

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Each employee has the authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities relating to the product, process and quality system and has the authority to stop further work on non-conforming suspect product until the deficiency or conditions have been corrected.
  • All employees will abide by their location's EH&S policy endorsed by the local management, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established under its EHSMS, work toward achieving established objectives and targets, and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard.  All employees will also understand all of the environmental aspects of his/her job. An employee should report, and if necessary stop, any activity that does not conform to the policy or may injure himself/herself.
  • Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED at minimum. 
  • Business degree and/or three years of Human Resources experience preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of federal and state requirements in the area of labor law.
  • Basic understanding and working knowledge of employee relations, recruitment, benefit administration and safety/OSHA compliance. 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products to include Outlook, Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills needed to interface with internal and external contacts.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive issues and documents.

 

 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • On a continuous basis, must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must also be able to stand and/or walk on a frequent basis to communicate with employees on the plant floor. PPE may be required in the areas assigned.
  • Must be able to maintain body equilibrium (balance) to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching on slippery or dirty surfaces.
  • Must be able to continuously stoop by bending from the waist.
  • Must be able to occasionally kneel (up to one-third of the time).
  • Must be able to occasionally crouch by bending the body downward and forward and bending the legs and spine.
  • Will rarely (less than 10% of the time) need to crawl by moving about on hands and knees.
  • Will need to continuously reach by extending the hands and arms in any direction.
  • Must be able to frequently reach, handle and finger.
  • Must have good near acuity (clarity of vision at 20" or less) as well as good depth perception (three-dimensional vision).
  • Aspects performed inside the plant facility will have noise exposure. PPE may be required in the areas   assigned.
  • Understand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand.
  • Must be able to make occasional trips to maufacturing sites and customers by air and by automobile.

The following aptitudes are needed in at least a medium degree, ranging from slightly below to slightly above average as compared to the normal population:

  • Intelligence/general learning ability specifically oriented toward problem solving and multitasking.
  • Form perception/ability to perceive pertinent detail in structural duties.

  • Ability to communicate orally and in written form effectively with co-workers, departments, and vendors.
