GFT Ready Mix is seeking an organized, dependable, and professional HR Assistant to support our Human Resources department and employees throughout the company.


This is a full-time, in-person position based at our Phoenix office. The HR Assistant will support onboarding, employee records, benefits, recruiting, HR systems, employee communications, leave documentation, compliance tracking, and general employee support.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, paperwork, orientation materials, and first-day preparation.
  • Enter and maintain accurate employee information and documents in Paylocity.
  • Coordinate background checks, drug testing, MVRs, and other pre-employment requirements.
  • Maintain personnel files and track missing or expiring documentation.
  • Assist employees with routine Paylocity questions and general HR needs.
  • Support benefit enrollment, employee benefit questions, open enrollment, and benefit communications.
  • Coordinate interviews, candidate communications, applicant tracking, and hiring documentation.
  • Assist with leave documentation, workers' compensation paperwork, and confidential employee records.
  • Maintain HR trackers and reports for new hires, terminations, benefits, leave, and compliance items.
  • Assist with employee events, surveys, recognition programs, and HR communications.
  • Support HR audits, employee relations documentation, and special projects.
  • Escalate sensitive or complex employee matters to the HR Manager.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of HR or related administrative experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, exercise discretion, and appropriately protect sensitive employee, compensation, medical, company, and HR information.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion when handling sensitive situations.
  • Strong customer-service skills and ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently, follow established procedures, and recognize when an issue should be escalated to the HR Manager.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work onsite during scheduled business hours.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with Paylocity or another HRIS preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Desire to continue learning and developing within Human Resources.
