Job description

The HR Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of the Human Resources function, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and alignment with the company's values and strategic goals. This role is responsible for full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, leave administration, workers comp administration, compliance and reporting, along with supporting safety initiatives and employee engagement programs. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented, and people-focused professional capable of balancing operational HR duties with strategic initiatives.

Essential Functions:

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting, including job postings, sourcing, interviewing, phone screenings, offer extensions, and onboarding confirmations.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate new hire HR orientation appointments.

HR Systems and Data Management

  • Maintain and update HRIS systems with new hire and termination data, benefit enrollments, changes and terminations, etc.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy across all HR platforms.

Benefits and Leave Administration

  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, qualifying event changes, terminations, and communication with benefit vendors.
  • Oversee COBRA administration and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Manage leave programs, including Family Medical Leave, Short Term Disability, and collection of benefit premiums from employees on leave.

Employee Relations and Support

  • Serve as a resource to employees and supervisors, addressing concerns and providing HR policy guidance.
  • Support performance management processes and coach supervisors on best practices.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure timely completion of compliance reports such as I9 forms, EEO-1, OSHA 300/300A, RxDC reporting, Medicare Part D notices, and other notices as required.
  • Oversee drug screenings for DOT and non-DOT employees.
  • Manage Workers' Compensation cases and claims.

Programs and Project Oversight

  • Maintain and update job descriptions across departments.
  • Administer and manage the 401(k) plan in partnership with plan vendors.
  • Support safety initiatives including pre-employment hazard awareness training, hearing testing, respiratory safety classes, medical exams, and annual Safety Manual updates.
  • Oversee the distribution and tracking of employee performance reviews.
  • Participate in job fairs, local school interview days, and other community outreach events.
  • Maintain and update company policies as needed.
  • Ad Hoc projects as needed to support the business.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or operational environment.
  • Prior experience in benefits administration, recruiting, and compliance required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws including FMLA, ADA, COBRA, and FLSA.
  • Strong proficiency with HRIS systems and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) preferred
