Position Overview

A mission-driven nonprofit organization in Shelton, CT is seeking an experienced and organized Human Resources Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations and employee engagement initiatives. This role will serve as a key resource for employees and management, handling a wide range of human resources functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and HR reporting.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative professional who enjoys supporting a diverse workforce while helping foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and onboarding.
  • Administer new hire orientation and ensure all onboarding documentation is completed accurately.
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS data while ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
  • Assist with benefits administration, employee enrollments, changes, and employee inquiries.
  • Support employee relations by responding to questions regarding policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and nonprofit regulations.
  • Process personnel transactions including status changes, promotions, and terminations.
  • Assist with performance management, employee training, and professional development programs.
  • Track and report HR metrics, including turnover, recruiting activity, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Support payroll preparation by coordinating employee information and documentation.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives that support organizational growth and employee satisfaction.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
