Want to get involved in the community? Look no further! Volunteering with the City of Leesburg Library Department is a highly rewarding experience.
This Volunteer opportunity is not for those seeking to complete court- ordered community service.
Volunteer Position Descriptions:
Bookstore: Assist in staffing the Friends of the Library bookstore by operating the cash register, helping customers, and keeping the bookstore neat and organized. Responsibilities also include accepting, sorting, and shelving donated books and materials. Some tasks may require the ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Training will be provided.
Adult Literacy: Tutors provide direct, one-on-one assistance to adults aged 18 and up, either in person at the library or virtually. Responsibilities include helping with reading, writing, and math skills, providing ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) instruction, and preparing learners for the U.S. citizenship test and other exams. Training and materials will be provided.
Local History: Support the library's local history initiatives by assisting with the preservation and digitization of historical materials. Tasks may include scanning and organizing newspaper obituaries and other local history resources. Training will be provided.
This position is not eligible for benefits.
