Position Description
As a Computer Support Specialist, you'll be the trusted IT resource for multiple U-Haul Manufacturing and Assembly plants, providing both remote and onsite technical support. You'll work with the latest Windows and Microsoft technologies, deploy new hardware, troubleshoot complex issues, and help implement IT projects that improve productivity across our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support via phone, email, remote support, and in-person assistance.
  • Travel to U-Haul Technical Center, Manufacturing, and Assembly plants to provide onsite support for end users and IT equipment.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, printer, and peripheral issues.
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and Office applications.
  • Manage user accounts, passwords, and permissions using Active Directory.
  • Image, deploy, replace, and upgrade computer systems using approved deployment tools and processes.
  • Support manufacturing-related technology, including label printers, barcode scanners, shop-floor workstations, and other plant systems.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot printers, scanners, and multifunction devices.
  • Respond to onsite service requests and provide timely resolution for technical issues requiring hands-on support.
  • Document incidents, service requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions within the company's ticketing system.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams when additional expertise, access, or specialized support is required.
  • Assist Windows updates, and workstation configuration activities.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for IT assets and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity issues.
  • Follow company security policies and best practices to protect company data and systems.
  • Participate in after-hours support, scheduled maintenance, and on-call availability required.
  • Assist with office moves, hardware refreshes, technology upgrades, and other IT projects.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of desktop support, technical support, or IT field support experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Windows 11
    • Microsoft 365
    • Active Directory
    • Computer hardware troubleshooting
    • Printers and peripherals
    • Basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Experience supporting desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and related hardware.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, warehouse, or multi-site support environments is a plus.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel regularly between U-Haul Technical Center, Manufacturing, and Assembly plant locations.
  • Ability to work independently while managing a field support schedule.

Physical Requirements
  • Lift and move computer equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to crawl under desks and install computer equipment.
  • Stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely climb ladders and work at elevated heights when installing, maintaining, or troubleshooting IT equipment.
  • Frequent travel between U-Haul Technical Center, Manufacturing, and Assembly plants.
  • Ability to safely transport and install IT equipment at multiple locations.
