Description
The Hilton Charlotte University Place is seeking an outgoing and qualified individual for the position of Hotel Controller. In this role, you will support the Area Controller with the daily and monthly accounting processes for the hotel.
Responsibilities
• Assist the Area Controller in ensuring compliance with all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes. Provide assistance to department management in enforcing compliance with all these items.
• Analyze financial data and operations in order to assist and advise management in maintaining the hotels' financial objectives.
• Ensure that all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, are properly reconciled on a timely basis.
• Review and approve the income audit daily and ensure that critical operational procedures are accomplished on a daily basis, including credit card reconciliation/transmission, daily deposits, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, hotel assets, payroll, and record retention.
• Hire, train, supervise, and develop staff, including coaching, counseling, development, and discipline.
• Direct or prepare all financial reports in accordance with standards, meeting various due dates and deadlines.
• Provide administrative support to management with reference to policy enforcement, business advice, and operational assistance.
• Develop key relationships with respective department heads to provide financial support and understanding of short and long-term financial plans.
• Assist in the development and implementation of forecasts, budgets, variance analyses, internal/external audits, and corrective action plans as related to financial objectives.
• Assist the Area Controller with benchmarking and performance analysis reports.
• Fulfill fiduciary responsibility to the company and ownership, ensuring the hotel is reporting in compliance with all applicable accounting policies/standards.
• Attend meetings/training sessions as required.
• Maintain constant communication with the Controller to ensure any problems or matters of significance are addressed promptly.
• Oversee the Accounting department in the absence of the Area Controller.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• 2+ years of progressive experience as an Accounting Manager or a related role, with hotel accounting experience preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed, to meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and planning skills.
• Ability to manage time and energies in an efficient, effective, and organized manner.
• Ability to operate all required office equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable Accounting software applications.
• Experience with all aspects of the Accounting function - reporting, closing.
