Job description

Purpose:
• Provides recovery-oriented mobile and site-based individual and group counseling and support services, crisis prevention/intervention, and educational services, to a designated group ('caseload") of participants and collaterals such as family members and friends.
Supervision Received:
• Receives direct supervision from Manager/Shift supervisor.
Supervision Exercised:
• N/A
Qualifications:
• Has experience and is willing to self-identify as a current or former recipient of mental health services and/or co-occurring services and is willing to use and share his/her personal practical experience, knowledge and first-hand insight to benefit the team, service, and participants;
• Has the knowledge and skills to engage individuals around their recovery and establish supportive, trusting relationships with them;
• Has a high school diploma or GED;
• Within last three- (3) years, has maintained at least 12 months of successful full or part-time paid or voluntary work experience or obtained at least 24 credit hours of post-secondary education; and/or have passed a recovery/peer specialist certification training.
• Good oral, written communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently on and off-site.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
Scope:
• Frequent talking and listening.
• Manual dexterity, ability to lift, carries up to 25 lbs., folds, kneel, reach, stoop, and bend.
• Time flexibility, ability to work outside scheduled hours in emergency situations.
• Local travel required, including transporting program participants by car or van
• May be required to report to work during emergencies, including inclement weather.
